A new route has been converted to a line that now uses articulated buses, and its the B1 from Ulmer Park Depot.
The B1 was selected as the next line to be converted to an articulated route due to increasing ridership levels. The line was supposed to be converted back in April for the Spring Pick, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic and other underlying factors, it was delayed until this past Sunday.
The 4700 series New Flyer XD60 "Xcelsior" Artics from The Bronx were transferred over to Ulmer Park Depot. Ironically enough, it looks like history has repeated itself, as Ulmer Park has regained a batch of ZF powered buses in the form of these artics. Several 7100s and 7300s have been transferred to Fresh Pond, East New York and Flatbush Depots in response to the arrivals of the 4700s.
What you'll see here are several videos of various New Flyer XD60 "Xcelsior" Artics operating on the B1 route. These videos were taken in the Dyker Heights area of Brooklyn. These buses are powered by a Cummins ISL9 engine and a mixed transmission batch, as some of these have Allison B400R6 Gen IVs, and ZF Ecolife 6AP1400B transmissions.
I hope you guys enjoyed the video. Subscribe & stay tuned for more!!
