I guess I'll never understand the current trend of mounting handlebars backwards, but I guess it works for you...nice vid. Rode there a few times. Last time one of the tunnels blocked by locked gates as well. 2020.

Good fun! I didn’t know my handlebars are backwards but what do I know… I’ve been riding for 3 years and before that it was 25 years! Back then was a lot different. Stiffer and I think the handlebars may have been straight and we used these things that extended from the end of the bars for climbing purposes!!!

How are they backwards? He has a short stem with riser bars, totally normal.

Did you guys encounter any wild animals along the way?

Not at all.

Did you guys encounter any locked gates blocking tunnels? I heard there was a locked gate now.

Just the 1st tunnel. There's a trail you can walk around to continue on.

@@Markonivision Good to know. Thank you. Did you start the trail from Jacumba, or the east side out by Ocotillo? I have had plans to build a rail car with my son to ride out and over the Goat Canyon Trestle, but now am unsure it is possible with a tunnel blocked. Watched a video back in 2012 or 2013 titled "Eastbound Cab Ride Through Carrizo Gorge HD" but I am guessing the rail conditions have changed in the last 10 years? Thank you for posting your video!

@lothre you know what, there was another tunnel blocked. Like the 7th one. There is a walking path around the hill. So you wouldn’t be able to pull that off at least from where we started which was out of the Jacamba Hot Springs off the 8.

@@Markonivision Yeah, I may have to do a hike there first or MTBs to scout it out. Maybe if I make the rail cart super light with handles we could carry it on hte path around the blocked tunnels. Thanks a bunch for the info.

@@lothre i would def ride the bike through and check it out. the one hill you have to hike around is quite a hike. maybe a half to three quarter mile around the hill.
