Stonewall is a really great trail. It took me a long time to realize how fun that one can be. Now it's one of my favorites in the area.

Random poison oak tip - I got a small dose on my arm riding Darrington recently...it SUCKS. I'm now using Tecnu Extreme Scrub to promptly wash off arms/legs after every ride. So far 100% success. Worth checking out...

Thanks for the tip. When it comes to poison oak I try everything. I also heard simple green does wonders. Let's hope we never have to use these weapons of relief.

I been sketched out by the small section of Confluence Trail that is partially collapsed and narrow, but it’s been a good trail to build confidence. Do you have any trips planned for Georgetown? This last weekend, I rode a few trails there. Seems like a great place to avoid crowds on the weekends.

I'm not planning on going out there right now. I have some big stuff lined up that is a bit on the incognito side. Georgetown is great place especially if you get the shuttle. I don't think a lot of people go out there because it's geared more for dirt bikes. That keeps hikers out and leaves the place for dirt bikes and MTB bikes.

Hello MTBing Adventures. I have a question for you. I am considering riding the entire Western States Trail on a mountain bike (the trail that runs from Auburn to Squaw Valley). Do you think that would be possible to do in one day (16 hours), and (maybe) have a guess on how long it would take? Or have you done it yourself, because I know you've ridden the part at Michigan Bluff?

Have you posted this over multiple places online? I keep seeing this same question. Not a chance you're doing that in one day, even with an ebike. Just bring camping gear with the bike. Edit: after looking it up that's shorter than I thought but still 100 miles all uphill? The bigger question is why would you want to do it? If anything do it from squaw down to auburn, that would actually be fun.

I have never done it. I would say it would be impossible to do it in one day unless you are a super athlete and have done some seriously big rides before. If you are staying on trails the entire way you are looking at a minimum of 20,000 ft of climbing with all the ups and downs and well over 50 miles of riding. I'm using Google Earth to help me get a rough estimate. That is a straight line from point A to B. Maybe easier to start from Squaw Valley and work your way down. I did the Rose to Toads ride that was a 65 mile ride with only 8000 ft of climbing and I spent 12 hours on the trail and we were supported for supplies. Sounds like you may have done some big rides before but this one would probably be a 2 day ride being about 10 hrs each day and having some sort of support for food and water.

@@dylan-5287 Yeah, I just looked up the trail. Looks like 100 miles with 23,000 ft of climbing going from Auburn to Squaw Valley. That is insane! Unless you have done many things like this before I would say this would be even a 3 day ride. Doing just 8000ft of climbing in one day about wrecked me.

@@mtbingadventures1551 haha not a chance I'm doing that without an ebike. Going down it could be fun but it sound like a hiking trail, I doubt it's made for mtb. So many better options around NorCal. I've seen other people asking this and I don't get the appeal on an mtb.

@@dylan-5287 I agree, I would prefer to be on singletrack trails with lots of fun sections. Grouse Ridge can offer both the punishment and the fun of great trails. I think that would be a way better option.
