So if your ignition switch fails, the manufacturer wants to sell you a whole assembly with a brand new module for $92 You can either buy the $17 "925-1741" switch and not mow in reverse at all (or just unplug the transmission safety switch and mow in reverse). Or you can buy the Oregon 33-105 switch for $29, pop the old key switch out and pop the new one in and your mower will work like normal. I'm not sure why Delta wouldn't sell that switch separately. Maybe a call to the manufacturer is in order? Let me know!

I have the same mower. Mine will not let me go in reverse at all, even when blades are disengaged. I believe it's the module because when i turn the key and push the yellow button, my light no longer comes on. For now i am going to unhook the trans wire until i replace the module. Thanks for the info.

Good info👍🏻 The thing that I really hate about the reverse safety switch is not so much the fact that I have to throw the PTO out before I can back up, but the fact that I also, of course, have to kick it back in every time, and every time that belt is engaged and you hear that squeak that's just a bit more unnecessary wear on your belt. Disengaging and engaging that belt over and over and over again during a mowing session is bound to wear that belt out sooner than it would otherwise. And of course I'm not denying the fact that having to work that handle every time is a pain.

I knew about unplugging the reverse safety switch, but most folks don't. For liability on your part, informing the customer, but not actually disabling it was the right move. Plus, by doing research on your end, you saved the customer some cash.
@EliminatorPerformance4 жыл бұрын
Yes like always, I'll teach someone how to but for liability issues I can't do it myself. $17 $29 or $92 the choice was simple for someone who isn't going to mow in reverse anyways. Thanks for watching!

If you put the other key switch in with the light position,and you want to use your lawn mower in reverse just unplug the connector above the key switch and leave it's disconnected lawn mower will operate in reverse with mower deck running.

Great video as always. I wonder why the cheaper switch with the auxiliary fourth position does not work in the reverse module unit. I would have expected all these 4 position switches to be internally the same, just a different face plate.
@EliminatorPerformance4 жыл бұрын
Has to be a connection between 2 terminals, with a wiring leading back to the module. Either way, $17 for the cheap switch and unplug it, $29 for the medium one that'll work, or $92 for the OEM one with a new module, where's the sense in that? Thanks for watching!

Is it then necessary to unplug the reverse module plug?
@EliminatorPerformance2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you use the cheaper key switch, you have to unplug the wire at the transmission to cut in reverse. Otherwise the engine will stop every time you put it in reverse while cutting, as the cheaper switch doesn't allow you to bypass it.

what's the point of the module then? if it is dangerous (why?) to mow in reverse, what does the module do to alleviate that?
@EliminatorPerformance4 жыл бұрын
Exactly my point lol there's liability for mowing in reverse, but by pressing the button, you're saying you've checked you're surroundings and and backing up. I guess it's a legal way to put liability on the operator. Which is where the liability should've been from the start! Thanks for watching!
@foufou33g4 жыл бұрын
@@EliminatorPerformance disabling the switch yields the same result, it is an affirmative/explicit action taken by the operator that is not inline with the "how to use our equipment", they have the CYA. Unless I'm missing something ... lawyers and engineers that humour them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have 2014 LTX1046KW Cub Cadet. 850 hours. The reverse mode feature has worked for 10 years. When I start the engine and idling with the pto off. I then turn turn the key to the reverse position and press the button to turn on the red light to cut in reverse. The red light will momentarily flash and not stay on. From the factory if I did turn on the reverse cut mode, and tried to cut in reverse, it would disengage the blade PTO only, not kill the engine. Now the red Led flashes, goes off and I cannot cut in reverse. Any ideas from anyone on this. thanks.

Hi this question is about a different problem. I hope you can help me with this problem. I have a old John Deere model 180 . Problem I was mowing leaves and smoke was coming out of the bottom by the deck. I pulled the tractor in the garage & checked and for the problem and found out that the PTO clutch and found that the PTO had burnt up & melted with melted plastic all over the deck. I removed the PTO to check out the problem. # 1 I removed the PTO and started the engine & the engine started and ran fine but when I engaged the PTO switch ( with the PTO clutch removed & wiring disconnected ) I engaged the PTO switch the engine than stopped. I than turned the PTO switch off and the engine started and ran fine . # 2 I than went to the seat switch & by passed the seat with a jumper wire. The engine started and ran fine but again as soon as I turned the PTO switch on it killed the motor, than turned the switch off and started the engine up & again it started and ran fine but stopped as soon as I engaged the switch. # 3 I than used a jumper wire to by pass the PTO and again the engine started 7 ran fine but as soon as I turned the PTO switch on it would kill the engine and would start up & run fine but would die if I turned the PTO switch on & would start up and run fine with the PTO switch turned off. I know I will need to buy a new PTO assembly but I do not want to buy a new one & install it and take a chance burning the new one up. Do you have any ideas what my problem could be? Thanks Dave

The reverse mode control has to be engaged to mow in reverse
@EliminatorPerformance4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need to press the yellow triangle button and then you can mow in reverse. But with this cheaper ignition switch, it won't work. However, the manufacturer wants you to purchase the whole module assembly, when you can just get that Oregon switch and pop the old one out.
@robertmailhos81594 жыл бұрын
