Josh the answer to your question is YES it works. Happy to report the replacement key ignition switch Josh mentions in the video, Oregon 33-105, 7 terminal 4 position switch worked perfectly in my Cub Cadet mower. I have a steering wheel zero turn (S 54) but I think the switch is common in many Cub Cadet models. I tested all functions to include starting, pto engagement, and mowing in forward and reverse and of course Off. Ordered on Amazon on Thursday arrived on Monday. Total cost with shipping was $16. Probably saved $100 or more over putting it in the shop. Thank you Josh!

This video saved us SO much money and most of all time! We wouldn’t have our mower back for weeks! So easy a 65 year old (somewhat mechanically inclined) grandma could do it in 15 minutes!!! Thank you SO MUCH! I’m so happy!! I mowed my yard! Woohoo!!

Great explanation Josh! It's crazy what manufactures do to make more money. Yeah in your application replacing the switch instead of the entire panel is way cheaper, and you accomplish the same thing. Can't imagine why the owner wouldn't opt for the switch replacement, but to each their own.

I found a switch on Amazon that came without the markings and therefore exactly like my Cadet XT2 original. Also came with two extra keys as well. Replaced and worked great! I used some tools from a kit I had to remove car clips/panels. They don't mar either and one had the right spacing to line up with the clips!! One thing is I had to clip a restraint on the wire loom to allow the switch to come out far enough. Just tie wrapped in to another spot when I was finished. I also put silicon grease on all the connectors.

This is fantastic. I was struggling to get the nut off of the steering wheel to remove the console when I found your video with this excellent shortcut.

Excellent Video-presentation!!! I just dismantled the Starting Motor on my XT-1 and found a field plate magnet all fractured and in pieces. This prevented the pinion gear from retracting back in and also caused my starting problems. I had checked the solenoid and thought I might have to check the key switch but not this time.

What is the little 6 prong plug that plugs in above it go to? My mower wouldn't run with the blade engaged, I unplugged that plug and now it will but runs bad. Any idea what it goes to?

What would you suggest for the reverse cation mode working only intermittently (and getting worse). Also, sometimes the ignition does not want to crank the engine. The work around has been to keep jiggling things. 2017 model 13AQA1CT010. Thanks

Want to make a brief follow up to my earlier comment regarding the switch working. I am not a mower mechanic but an average Joe that wants to share what I know hoping it can help someone out. While the switch and it’s functions worked for me, I have not run my mower for any substantial amount of time. Please make certain this switch is compatible with your mower/old switch. I looked up the part number for my switch and found information that stated the Oregon switch was a replacement for it. Hope this helps, and Gob bless!

So whats the symptoms if module is bad...like blades will only engage when in reverse mode and button is pushed

I have a model 2166 that refuses to run without the brake on. All safety switches test good. I swapped out the pto and ignition switches and they test good. Doesn't matter what I do, it will start and run fine, until I release the brake pedal, then it'll die. There's only the 3 safety switches. Am I missing some other switch?

I had the same problem after I disconnected the safety switch on bottom of seat. Reconnected it and all worked. Mine is an XT1.

Hi Josh, Great video really enjoyed it. I have steering wheel cub cadet S 54. It shows to have the same key switch with mowing in reverse option. The problem I am having is mower cranks/starts but only for 2 seconds and then shuts off, over and over. I have had success with keeping it running by playing with the key switch as it is trying to shut off. Do you think replacing the key switch is the solution. Mower has about 400 hours. I need the mow in reverse option- found one for $50. Please let me know what you think. I appreciate you!! Joe

I have a CubCadet LT46, bought last season, used this spring, 14 hours on the damn thing. When I drop my blade she cuts out. Everything else is working. Cut in reverse light came on when activated, seat sensor still working. Someone please tell us if the blade drop safety switch (PTO switch) is integral and included in this ignition switch? Does the blade clutch get juice through this switch? The only video I can find only shows the models with the separate PTO switch. Every other video I watched with out the separate PTO switch, including this one, only discusses the reverse function in the ignition switch. I pulled the ignition switch on this model anyway, and inspected it. It looks very clean. I didn't bother going through the meter test, everything else was working. The plug felt pretty tight when pulled. Since everything looked real clean and I didn't have any contact cleaner kicking around, I reinstalled the switch, fired her up, dropped the blade and off we went!! So, I really have no clue what the problem was. I just have to attribute it to a bad or dirty connection in the switch?
@josephpuchel6497Ай бұрын
The PTO gets power through the wiring harness connection. Probably loose connection. Clean up the wiring unplug each connection and use dielectric grease then replug.

Very good. Mine won't start so using the jumper cables I got it to start. It backs up fine, runs fine, won't start so let me assume it's the solenoid. Show me how to remove that little sucker!! I found it, cleaned it spraying electric cleaner, and it worked- once. I can't match the numbers with STEN- so it's just a battle. Thanks for your starter info .

I have a cub cadet, XT2.. It has the magnetic key switch. I've already replaced the switch 2 times, and its bad again. 41 hrs on the mower! Do u know if i can convert this over to a standard "keyed" switch. At roughly $300 each,.. im past pissed off. Cub cadet will do nothing to help.

I have the same going with my XT 2 and the useless Bluetooth push button start. My mower has 0.1 hours on it because it was replaced under warranty 😊

The push button start on my XT2 went bad and the engine would not crank. It was replaced under water and now my hours are back at 0. I don’t understand the Bluetooth thing either because they no longer support it. If it does it out of warranty I will find some other why instead of $200 for another

I think the key start switch is bad on my CC. I turn the key, everything comes on but it won’t start. Replace the solenoid and still having the same problem.
@metalinmotionshop Жыл бұрын
Is the engine cranking but not starting? If the engine isn’t even trying to crank then you need to see if your getting power to the solenoid from the key switch. Watch my Solenoid videos. It might help.
@billshepherd5090 Жыл бұрын
@@metalinmotionshop it’s not even cranking. I keep turning the key to start and only rarely does it start. If it cranks, it starts right up. Thank you for your help. As mentioned earlier, I put a new solenoid on already. I’ve been jumping from hot on the battery to positive on the starter to get it to run. I know to be careful so I don’t burn out the starter.
@stoneyswolf Жыл бұрын
@@billshepherd5090you'll need to verify at the solenoid if your getting power from the key switch using a test light first. Could be a bad switch or could be a bad ground. It's possible the solenoid is just China junk. You can take the switch apart and clean it then apply new greese it's nothing complicated.

remove the battery unplug the reverse button and rip it out of the machine run hot wire to push button straight to the solenoid while your at it bend the metal plate back that holds the reverse switch to gain full speed reverse. seat switch tie red on yellow wire to green wire.
