man, i adore these "fair" creature focused decks. reminds me of when i first began playing in the 90's. though I'm still kinda bummed they stopped printing awesome flavorful arabic djinns and efreets (arabian nights to mirage i was in heaven) it means I'll never get to see djinn tribal from you. most good creatures back then had drawbacks, but with them it felt like the detriments were at least an accurate representation of the summoning, akin to the old adage "be careful what you wish for"

I like the idea of summoning a creature having significant downsides, and therefore being more rare.....makes the game feel more flavorfully akin to a duel between two mages. That said, there's just so much creative design space available for creatures that if the game were continue being made as it is, they were bound to grow more efficient and powerful.

@@jzoobs definitely. i realize my ideal release schedule of a new expansion every four years is an untenable business strategy lol. though we would just be finished with spoilers for alliances i believe, which means the next twelve years will contain the mirage block! btw... doesnt that new force of will card look awful? i mean youre two for oneing yourself AND losing a life just to counter a spell. artwork looks savage though. keep your eyes on deadly insects though, it cant be targeted with anything! i just traded 2 of my black lotus cards for a playset to some chump from one of our many local arcades. he even bought me a slice of sbarro at the mall food court.

@@jzoobs That’s not necessarily true at all, due to the Standard format system Stuff like 1/1 Deathtouchers has been recycled for years. No reason not to add more facets to that trend. But we all know WotC’s business model is driven by rarity and reprint-restriction, no matter how much they pretend to ignore the secondary market

Nice, haven't started watching yet, but I was struggling to find a deck I like a lot to commit to ranked with, and this was it. I had a lot of 45-50% win rate decks, and when I made one for Angels I had a solid 70-80% run. Dropped to 60something today, but still doing really well. Excited to see what you've got here :)

I was working on an Angels deck myself. a suggestion for your's ...... send one of the Legion Angel's to the sideboard to give an extra spot for Bloodchief's Thirst, Rampage of the Valkyries or Emeria's Call. only need one in deck. Great stuff as always.

In Game 4 near the end, casting Starnheim Unleashed before combat would've given 4 +1/+1 counters to your battle line. Game 3 looked like the pre-constructed reward deck called "Savage Lands". It's a rather effective landfall and direct damage deck.

This deck could have legs after rotation, there's the 2 mana instant removal already spoiled that replaces bloodchiefs thirst + 2 copies of verse and Innistrad is likely to have some high powered angels.

In game 3, wouldn't you still have lethal by activating cave of the Frost Dragon? They'd have to chump block and would still take lethal with cave and the double striking angels unless I'm missing something here.

Cave is a 3/4, they could take 4 from the youthful and 3 from the cave and chump the 5/5 angel. Legend would have a 5/5 blocker left and that can't stop Dragonsguard and Magda

In match 3, could you have attacked with the Angel Token, Youthful Valkyrie and Cave of the Frost Dragons? I think that would have been lethal, even if Sentinel blocks your flyers would have been (5 + 3x2 + 3 = 14).

Is there a reason people play Snarls untapped, revealing a basic even though they have no 1 mana plays? Wouldnt it be better to play a Snarl as a Tapped like Temple or something to avoid showing? Maybe not a huge deal either way

To bluff some kind of 1 mana interaction. I would agree it's probably not worth it without something like fatal push in the format for cheap instant speed interaction but yeah it isn't a big deal either way.

There is a delay when you choose to not show a basic land. When you don't have a basic, the land enters more "fluid"

I recommend CFB Pro and Untapped Premium for more detailed sideboard guides and matchup statistics. Given that I play a new deck almost every day I won't be able to go super deep on sideboard strategy. CFB has an article on a very similar Angel deck and the Untapped stats back up the conclusions that it comes to.

maybe it`s just me ?? but I find it very hard to get this deck up,and fly. Being an almost entire creature deck,it`s very vulnerable to any kind of firepower .When I play it, my creatures are getting shot down right away,which is pretty anoying..is this really a top tier one deck or... ?? brilliant video though.

Okay. Im not one to critque you very often since youre way more experienced and talented than me but in the game against monogreen you really shluldnt sacrifice righteous valkyrie. Knowing you had two available you can do crazy stuff in a single turn. Ive personally gained over 20 life with her in a single turn and ive also had it happen against me. Its crazy. And against mono green all they have are fight spells which are good but most people seem to only carry 4 blizzard brawls so theres a really good chance they would have used it already had they had it. You can easily out race them just relying on the double lifegain.

If we had more Angels in hand I would be fine with racing, but that wasn't the case. Can't afford to let the Wolf get out of hand and draw them into removal. The fact that they had to waste a turn to pump it up made the decision for me.

@@LegenVD Sorry, I think they actually meant Game 4 near the end, when you were considering either a Doomskar or the Crippling Fear My personal take was that even if you just dropped the Righteous Valkyrie and Foretold the Starnheim, you’d still have a pair of 4/4s plus the expensive Vanishing Verse to prepare for any enemy threats in case your opponent did have the sweeper (which would be a weird tech for a Clerics swarm-deck anyway lol). But then again, I’m just an overaggressive buffoon :P

I've followed your channel for little while and have noticed something about these videos. You appear to show only wins or close losses and then give no win/loss rate at the end which is decietful and presents the deck as far better than it really is. For instance, this angels list is far from a 9/10 rating and will NEVER win 7/8 matches in ranked. Your audience will then go on to arena, burn a bunch of wildcards to make this list, and get destroyed by the dominant meta...

Nobody wants to see uninteresting games where someone gets manascrewed. I leave out plenty of wins in these videos too. As far as winrates go, you won't be able to tell much from a small sample size anyway. People can spend wildcards however they want, I try to give my honest review of a deck at the end of the video. I play magic to have fun and I try to build the best decks I can given the restrictions that are given to me. If people think the decks I show are fun and want to give them a try that's their prerogative. If they want tournament proven decks there are plenty of tierlists with win percentages available. People are smart enough to watch a deck perform and draw their own conclusions. That's why you won't see me claim ridiculous winrates of decks in thumbnails or titles.

The videos are based on which card wins the poll (this video was based around Rampage of the Valkyries, with 44% of votes). As you can see, all the gameplay footage is from unranked and generally at the end of video there's a quick summary of the deck, sometimes mentioning if it "isn't the most competitive" deck out there, what it might struggle against etc. FYI, the 9/10 rating isn't for the deck, but more tongue in cheek what the "most valuable card" in the deck was (in this case, Serra's Angel v4.20). It has nothing to do with the power level of the deck, like how Body of research got a rating of 42/10 because it got fling-ed for 42 in several of his matches. I believe it is safe to say the audience here are more interested to see casual brewing around a particular card (the poll) and not to see what the next meta breaking deck is going to be like.
