With all the Thoughtseizes, burn, combos that target face, and other stuff, I'd never touch timeless without a Leyline of Sanctity. I used to play them in every deck with white back in modern 10 years ago, and that was overall a less degenerate format than timeless is now.

Too much mana cheating plays, many games are decided on turn one so Leyline is very strong (plus you can always feed the extra to Solitude)

10:35 if you don't want what you surveil with mesmeric orb, keep it on top because you'll mill it anyway 🤦‍♂️

A couple of small punts in the Mill matchup, mainly with Surveilling. If you Surveil and don’t like the top card, just leave it, since Orb will mill it anyway. Also, might as well Fetch a Basic or Shockland, since Surveilling on the opponent’s End Step is pointless because of the Orb. Better to pay life for an untapped land than to mill yourself further. You may have been able to win that game. Granted, you’d need your opponent to flood-out for a few turns at the end, while beating him down with a 2/2 Vigilant Norn, but… it’s possible!

Exactly. Another mistake is playing Collective Brutality at 11:10 when Leyline of Sanctity just totally shuts off Jace, the Perfected Mind from milling, and it would have had the bonus of preventing the Glimpse the Unthinkable on the next turn. Also shuts off future Archive Traps.

If you were worried about Bolt at 8:35 (ish), you could have opened with Collective Brutality choosing all three modes, -2/-2 on Darcy knowing you were going to reanimate Elesh Norn later, recoup the health loss from Eidolon with the third mode, and taking their bolt from them with the first mode. They're unlikely to call your reanimate bluff but it's the same gameplan as before just with less punishment potential.

since we're in Abzan, might I recommend Grisly Salvage? It helps filter for lands and Kudos while getting your Norns and flashbackers into the graveyard.

Depends on alot of things. Includeing your deck speed. If you need lands. And many things so its not a concrete rule
