I've tried watching other commander game channels, but nothing beats MTGgoldfish. (Tolarian Academy are aight because of the prof's charisma). You got ONE behind the scene where they explain the goal of each of their decks in 1 minutes or less, then they just play the game and show a "printed" version of the card when they play one. -nothing obnoxious to cut the flow of the video -No overacted, forced "jokes" to clip bait -No exaggerated SFX -No random behind the scenes to explain EACH play like it's a damned documentary (what the hell is that) -Friendly banter that doesn't drag over 20 minutes. I can't express how more fun the MTG goldfish videos are to watch than other channels.

To be fair, that's his MO. Establish slowly on the board state with things like bounce lands, tapped utility lands, durdle ramp, etc and let his opponents develop at a normal speed. So today we saw Richard’s theory on mana production completely backfire. He spent his mid game turns playing weird ramp that meant quicker decks killed him before he was able to do anything with all his mana. He built a deck that should have played mana rocks, he needed to ramp early so he can control the board and his 3 and 4 mana ramp failed to get him in a position to compete. I generally AGREE with Richard’s hot takes but I think in a deck without land ramp, or a way to wipe all permanents off the board (farewell, white sweepers) his theory falls flat. He should’ve just played a couple rocks. His general theory of ramp by any means into sweepers is solid theory but you can see how bad the plan is when you only have half of it in your deck. Finally I would note the Richard’s decks have become so homogeneous that they are boring. His ramp package and plans are the same for every deck so we see a solemn and ojar Oxanal (the red ixalan god) and other tools every game instead of seeing variance like we do from Seth and Tomer. Love the content, love this casting, thanks guys.

I'm not sure why he's not abusing cards that break parity if he's so hellbent on playing weird land ramp? Shatterstorm and similar effects are very strong if it can't set you back on mana. Put your money where your mouth is and blow up the rocks.

This is kind of a bad take ngl, Tomer was ramping and developing his board, had his commander trigger multiple times, and was playing artifacts, and he literally died to the exact same thing as Richard. Goes to show that you can spew a bunch of permanents onto the board or not, but if Gayruda just does it's thing, you're gonna die anyways. Idk why everyone is so gungho to harp on Richard on this sample of 1 when it literally is just fine most weeks and they just have to deal with it.

I loved the game but man looking at Richard board state both games with almost nothing but lands lol . His play style is so greedy and reliant on board wipes/ other people using removal. In a combo meta or aggressive attacking meta I don't think his expensive land ramp would cut it.

I have jank ramp for Richard. Abstruse Archaic. You can play it on 4 mana just like your scampering surveyor and ojers. Then every turn after it survives it copies your solemns, surveyors, compasses, wayfarer's baubles, even fetchlands and demolition fields, in addition to having a decent body. Seems right up his ally.

During Tomer's second combat @1:02:57, The Golden Gear Colossus should've had Protection from Black from the Glory play earlier in the turn meaning Be'lakor couldn't block. They said "...and Tomer would die". Why? What am I missing?
@Niuttuc
@Niuttuc 5 күн бұрын
The colossus attacking would have triggered it, creating two 1/1 gnome tokens, which with the Rampaging Ferocidon-copy Machine God's Effigy, would have dealt 2 damage to Tomer long before combat damage, and Tomer was at 2 life. The Effigy was also stopping the lifegain from the Mechtitan.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Norin because of someone at our store. I brewed a Rocco deck that always tutored him out once but it wouldn’t have mashed with the current scene.
