The scale is still working good for me, you will have no problem loading 223 with it.

I have had mine for about 4 months and have used it every day. I always verify it with a set of calibration weights that I set close to the charge I am going to use. I also double check with my Lee Safety Scale. So far, so good. However, as someone that works in electronics for a living, I trust no instrumentation with a digital scale without verifying using at least two methods. That is something I have learned with experience, unfortunately a bad experience.

I bought this exact same scale and have found out 1. Its very tempermental about getting fresh strong batteries, I tried some rayovacs I had stashed for a couple years and the readings were erratic.2. I thought using hi-grade lithium would be a plus then I read to use only whats reccomended I almost fried it. 3. When I calibrate it it shows in grains and I have to change modes it read 500.1 I haven't worked with it enough to really tell much else .

Is it still working and would it be good to reload 223 with a hand loader.

My instructions seem to have walked away. How should it be calibrated? Thanks.

If it's like most scales...you turn it on, press and hold the MODE button until CAL shows up in the display. Hit MODE again and it should flash a weight in grams it expects for calibration. You place a weight equal to that amount on the scale and it should then read PASS...your scale is now calibrated. You can test it by repeatedly placing your gram weight on the scale to check the readout. don't move, bump, or adjust it after that. You should probably recalibrate it every time you get it out...just to be on the save and consistent side.

Scale is not reliable. Worked OK for first 200 rounds, then not so much. Do not trust it with your life (i.e. RELOADING). Just discovered mine is approximately 10% off (!!) when I weighed bullets of known grain weight. And it continues to drift upward while weight is sitting on it. And it reads differently depending on where weight is placed on platform. The only good thing is my charges ended up being light rather than heavy. If you use this for measuring charges, be sure to VERIFY accuracy with beam or balance scale (or one known to be accurate) and do so frequently.

I liked my MTM for almost a year before it went south. Would not calibrate, would not hold zero, no thanks.
