I may like the idea of platform screen doors for safety and stuff but this would be the last line without platform gates from mong kok east to lo wu/lok ma chau until they finish. I prefer the stations without platform screen gates to remember what the old east rail line was like from the discontinued MLR (Including 9 cars/ 12 cars).😢

The idea 💡 of platform screen doors came from Singapore's MRT when it opened in 1987 initially in its underground stations then soon implemented on the elevated stations to ensure passenger safety, the Hong Kong MTR implemented it in the early 2000s following countless accidents including suicides on the MTR tracks by people jumping on into incoming trains thus disrupting operations and it's now used in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta.

So you would prefer people falling onto the tracks instead of installing platform screen gates to keep everyone safe?

I mean you got a point. it just feels like the MLR is still in service, just, doesnt come as often. but still, old stations doesnt mean they dont need platform screen doors. it's for safety of passengers and less chances of suicide attempts at stations
I don't know Cantonese, but I can infer what the video is about using the title of the video

MTR doesn't allow installation during day-time operation so all sort of work/maintenance to the platform can only be performed mid-night. Plus the environmental protection ordinances, they are only allowed 2-3 nights per week to install the platform gates
