It just goes to show how an ancient martial art like Muay Thai is still evolving and adapting to modern techniques and fighting style.

I can tell all of the double and single leg takedown defences are bullshit. Only one that would work is a knee or uppercut but if you turn the angle they won’t just run through you they’ll grab on your back so you can’t pivot lmao wrestlers don’t miss and give up if they fail they’ll keep pushing off their knees until they have you against the corner even if you started from the other side of the ring. Muay Thai fighters are dumb af even boxers are smarter. What is used in Muay Thai is just more lethal

I feel like the Muay Thai clinch has not been used to it's full potential in MMA yet, and I'm waiting for someone to figure out how to properly modify it for MMA. I think guys like Anderson Silva were only able to really use it against fighters who had no understanding of how to defend against it, but there is still a lot more that can be done with the plum. #BankokReady

@@nohbdy1122 kru rong learned from his fights that the muay thai clinch can only be used in a perfect timing only..he started to prevent the opponent to take down him so he could remain stand up. Because if he used the traditional muay thai stance all the time.. The grappler would take him to the ground easily as he would be imbalanced because of the muay thai stance. You can watch his early fights in one fc where he adapted to this in mma because he realised when he used the muay thai stance his balance would not be good once the opponent tried to take you to the ground.

Hi Shane. Could you please do a video explaining how you beat an opponent who clinches all the time in a boxing match? There's a guy who I spar with at the gym (we spar a lot because the coach thinks that we're a good match) who is a little bit taller than me and about 6kg heavier than I am who keeps clinching me every time I throw a punch, and it's extremely irritating, especially because the coach keeps telling me that I should fight from a distance instead since the guy is stronger than I am. However, I can't really fight on the outside because he has both a height and reach advantage on me, so they only way that I can really hit him is if I get in close and go to the body and use hooks to the head. However, every single time I move closer, he clinches. A lot of the time, he will just clinch me anyway, even if I haven't even thrown anything yet, and it is really starting to piss me off. I know you have a lot of videos on Muay Thai clinching, but this is just a regular boxing sparring session that we're having, so could you please do a video on how to escape a clinch quickly, or at least some tactics that I use if I can't escape? Or preferably, how to avoid the clinch altogether? Thanks. P.S. Loving the videos, please keep them coming!

KingOfTheRing what’s up bro I have a pretty good amount of boxing experience. How much taller is he than you?if you guys are standing together in the clinch does your shoulder atleast somewhere close to his shoulder? When your in the clinch is he just using his weight on you? Or is he physically holding you in place with his strength?
@Rotscrek6 жыл бұрын
i might suggest you watch lomachenko fights: use angles a lot, use timing (uppercuts ie as he comes close to clinch u) and if nothing works, learn some clinching throws from muay thai. It's not legal ofc to throw, but just unbalancing your opponent to strike is something useful in boxing too. gl
@jamjampoiness83096 жыл бұрын
When he comes in for the clinch I find teeps and side side kicks are quite effective. Either a fast lead leg teep to the hip/stomach or a rear teep which requires less distance and has more weight behind it. If you are too close for kicks, try stiff arming your opponent, like a straight push punch to their shoulder/chest area and then follow up with a hook or round kick if you have the distance. Sting him with that a few times and I doubt he will keep going for the clinch.

Traditional Muay Thai clinch can still be used in MMA, depending on your intent and where you use it. Grab hold of that head and throw your opponent off balance. Once your opponent is off balance can control the fight much better from there. Feint the knee and strike with the elbow. Then throw the knee when your opponent expects the elbow. Also up against the cage it can be devastating. Just don't be predictable, which is the main problem with the clinch.

Throw more, keep the pace under control. When you sit there and wait you're gonna get overwhelmed, but if you just throw punch after punch too fast you'll overextend and stop thinking, which will get you caught; throw a lot of strikes at a controlled pace.
@laughydawg95946 жыл бұрын
If youre afraid of getting punched, dont do any combat sport. Even in sparring, getting hit is inevitable. So, learn to keep calm when u get punched, relish the pain as a learning experience and just let your body flow with your training. Keep your eyes open so u can spot a counter opportunity even when your opponent is attacking
@yihuishi79956 жыл бұрын
I flinched like nobody's business when I first started Muay Thai sparring, and my trainers used to tell me that the best way to overcome this fear is to take more hits and let your body get used to the pain. Most importantly like what other guys here have mentioned, you got to keep calm and think of how to set up your combo or counter your opponent's combo. I am sure you will do better once you are used to the flow.

There're even different styles in Muay Thai to prevent all that, people just don't use that in a ring because there is no MMA in Thailand.
