I had spent some time after the last episode and tried around with the concept of having a flying machine below the farm to have the synchonized collection. But in short: No matter how you do it, you have so many item entities laying around while harvesting (Since they are not instantly picked up), that the whole concept feels useless in comparison to something like this. One thing that I thought aobut that might be quite useful though: When building these kind of farms and you actually use minecarts on rails for the item collection, wouldn't it often be better to not have them running in the same direction as the flying machines? If you have them perpendicular instead, you can launch the minecarts whenever the flying machines (The harvesters) have passed and might be able to achieve a somewhat synchronized collection. If you launch the flying machines with an offset, you can adjust for the travel speed of the minecarts as well
@redthunder61832 жыл бұрын
I think the only benefit to that design is that is is extremely cheap and really good for a typical survival world, but yeah not good for larger layouts

the problem is that you get the most bang for your buck by making the machine as long and narrow as possible, ilmango just builds them shorter for demo purposes. e.g. if you did 2 harvesters at max length, you have a 16x240 area of bamboo growing. by using perpendicular tracks, you need 240 minecart deployer/unloaders instead of 16. although you might be able to change the design, like funneling several minecarts into one unloader on return

i still think my idea would be feasible as well: sequential harvester: - bambo on mud "10x10 block" that grows 15 high (or which hight/cycle time/width combination would be best). - send the minecarts out once, from a dispenser setup towards a instant unloader setup. each module is timed in a way that: machine 1 harvests -> once the items are sucked up -> machine two launches etc. when the last module harvests, the first module is grown to its max height. thus you have a small amount of items permanently, instead of a lot of items periodically. this would be nice to look at and to make it even more fancy, you can do that for smaller slices (as small as you can make the flying machines) and have them harvests in set intervals (to generate wave form patterns). edit: finally had the time to finish this video: the difference would be, that my version would not launch the harvesters all at the same time and would stretch the lag out a little, but i dont think it will make that much of a difference when were at just 5MSPT at load und 2,X ad idle...

I too was thinking about putting the blades below the flying machines… they could fly at the same y level as the “ceiling”, of course then the ceiling would be a block or 2 higher on the few x axis’ where the the flying machines were (1/3 of the farm would have a 4 or 5 high ceiling). One caveat is that I think the blades would have to be only 3 long instead of 4. Therefore more flying machines, but then the contraption to swap which side the blades are on the flying machines is eliminated, simplifying the whole farm.

This farm is great, especially for 1.20 where bamboo is really useful. However i'm facing a weird issue since a few days. Recently the farm broke on me due to a server crash, no big deal, just rebuild the flying machines, but ever since i did that some minecarts get pushed too far to the edge of the trapdoor when reaching the east end of the farm. Its always the same ones that do that, the ones attached to the one slimeblock right in front of the flying machine. Basically when they reach the east end, those minecarts continue moving to the edge of the trapdoor before being pulled up which than leads to the minecarts dropping onto the amethyst bud instead of the rail next to it and thus not being broken. I have no idea why this happens, i have verified that the schematic is correct multiple times, but they keep doing that. Update: I found the mistake, it was caused by a missing comparator next to the droppers that activate the piston line which is meant to stop these exact minecarts
@malmiteria2 жыл бұрын
you could get rid of the last few items on the ground by having the engine one block higher, this way, only bamboos that would grow twice in between the retraction and extension of the engine pistons would break and end up on the floor. I'm sure you could even make the engine overlap with the slime / honey lines, so the pistons extending would extend over the trapdoors, and wouldn't risk the bamboos growing there. Also, wouldn't having the redstone blocks powering the trapdoors coming from the side instead of from above make the wiring a bit easier? It might require reworking the flying machine engine a little, idk, but if you have it above the machines, you don't necesserly need to move the engine around the machines
@silvermagpie10712 жыл бұрын
So... the main problem with this that I'm seeing is that this would make each blade shorter, because you'd have to put another sticky block on the layer above, which eats into the push limit. You'd also have to make the whole flying machine just one block tall, because otherwise it'd start clipping with the roof. You could maybe do something where another machine above pulls up and pushes the roof back, but that might be laggier than it's worth

Well what if you have 2 harvesting arms on top? One which will harvest the bulk of it, then some bamboo will grow but probably very few will grow more than 1 block, so the 2nd set of arms would swipe of all of the items and harvest mostly 2 high block bamboo which would always fall down. Then you have the flying machine on the bottom, only problem i see is that it would take longer to collect all the items, which means they'd lag more while they're entities
@FloofWolfe2 ай бұрын
Would this same concept work in a kelp farm? Or would the minecarts on the trapdoors not behave properly when under water? (Or maybe they wouldn't do a good job collecting broken kelp because in the water the items would fly out a bit further and start floating up out of range, instead of falling down into the minecraft with gravity...?)

There is a cooldown before they can go through a netherportal again. I think it was one minute. I suppose there is not enough time inbetween the two portals and once they are in the bottom portal, the timer enther gets reset or stops working. This is also why you can sent an armour stand through a portal and it will stay inside the portal forever

@@racernatorde5318 Thank you! hmmmmmm. I see. Back to the drawing board. I have the guardians fall through powdered snow to account for the cooldown. Maybe I need to increase the distance they travel before reaching the nether portal.
