Sadly I believe that's more the boat design than the kit design. These transoms are raked out way to far. Stinking American outboards!

I always mount the mount fist then put the engine on. Man, that bracket just ain't right. I don't see how that will hold up.

I got the same kit except for it’s the 22 to 23 horse one because I’ve on the predator 670 on it have it now for two years awesome Kit I love it

Hu there. My shaft keeps rotating every time I use it. I've tightend the heck out of it, but it still rotates. Is there anything that can fix that? Thanks.

The first thing to check is if you put the wing bolts in the correct way on the coupler housing. The wing bold should go through the smooth hole first and then into the threaded hole. Let me know if that was it or not

@@NordKeyboardGuy I would say tighten them down more.?. Are you closing the gap between the two coupler wing bolts? If you are able to close the gap between the two ears and the shaft still turns, I would contact the company that sold you the kit. This is a mud skipper video, is it their kit?

@@JTgatoring Actually, I just contacted them yesterday, and they told me to remove the shaft, tighten the bolts as much as possible, then loosen them, reinstall the shaft then tighten. That'd what I did, then I took the boat out in the water for hours, and it did not rotate one bit. Problem solved.

Do you need the clutch kit for this?

There was not a clutch kit available when I built this kit. I didn't use a clutch kit.

Hey thanks for your video I'm in Tasmania and just got the same kit from Thailand, it arrived with no instructions and zero knowledge here in Australia on long tails. I'm wondering about the fitting that goes onto the PTO shaft [ 9-10 min. in ] mine came with four bolts not two and a short key but other wise it's the same, for those four bolts I'll use loctite, no brainer. But what about the main thread that connects the two pieces loctite or antisieze, it should be self tightening so I'm thinking antiseize, but I'd appreciate some input from you or others. Thanks.

Hey John, you thought it through and you are correct. Use the thread lock on things you don't want to vibrate loose, and anti-seize on things you may want to remove later on. As you mentioned and are correct about, that pto shaft and coupler for the pto is self-tightening as it runs so it can become very tight, so anti-seize will help with disassembly if you ever need to and you do not need to worry about it unscrewing itself. As for the bolts, you would benefit from a thread-locking additive so they do not vibrate loose.

Is there any Benefits to running the mount on the outside of the transom compared to the inside? Also I’m having troubles bringing the front end of my 14 foot v haul out of the water the long tail motor seems to want to make it dig into the water and I can’t get to a plane. Any tips? Thank you

I also can’t run any bigger than the 212 due to the transom rating so possibly just not enough power or do you have any tips to trim the boat up in the front

@@Mental-Mess That would be a question for the manufacturer or brand. I know that a thai style longtail will push the nose down more when compared with an outboard, but I've never had someone ask about reversing that or minimizing it. I think its just that way and there's not much you can do about it. To lift the nose up, you would need propulsion down low under the transom like an outboard to help lift the nose. I don't know the answer to this one. Its not a common problem. Let me know what you find and if you're able to fix it the way you want too

Should make beveled wood blocks,too make bracket,more plumb,than tight to stock transom Wood, Need a table saw to cut angles.Works good on mine.

I was going to do something like that if all of the mud motors didn't work out on that transom, but the Swamp Runner kit worked so I'm glad I didn't have to try and make those wedges. Thank you for the tips and watching the video. If you could take some pictures of your wedges and send them to me, I'd really like see how it worked out for you 👍

Why not cut Wedge blocks to get bracket level,through bolted,

I may end up having to do that, but I believe you shouldn't have to put more time and effort into a kit to make it run correctly.

Mud skipper just dropped a new kit on their website this week and it's 480 for the same kit as sps
