How fast will a Mud-Skipper Longtail Mud Motor run a 1232 Sears Gamefisher Jon Boat?
Pretty dog gone fast. I got 12 mph out of the 6.5 '' prop. and 14 and 15 mph with the 7 and 7.5 prop. These speeds were with my dog Pete who weighs 60~ lbs. The other day w/o Pee I got 15 MPH on the 6.5 '' prop so Pete cost me 3 mph! w/o Pete in the Boat the 7.5 '' prop should do 18 mph !!.

I have a swamp runner 18 hp vanguard on 1652 boat and I am getting 18 up river and 24 down with 9 1/2" prop by myself with 300 lbs of gear if I have another person I'm hitting 16 up river and 19 down with 9" prop

Im with you bud. Ive been told but not sure how accurate it is but that model/size can run up to a 9? I believe thats what i was told. But dont hold it to me. Ide like to know larger sizes such as max size and max speed its capable of.

theres also different style props.. not just size.. theres differnt pitches you can get.. Or ie: hi speed props. theres hi-power props. and then the "black painted reguler props" mud-skipper sells are best for all around imho) I got a twister with a tuned up clone, flywheel,cam, gov delete, bigger jet in carb, degree key on flywheel, 22lb valv springs.. best i can get not matter the prop, pitch in water with my 10ft 30"? wide old starcraft.. is about 19mph.. skip too like 11- mins in? youll see the porp difffernces.. i talk about.. since your running a true longtail, a hi-speedprop mite work better for you.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2Kwp6Vqnrl3r6csi=zRJSJwgGMZ6Q2ft2 theres a point of no return with the props,power, and place were the prop is in the water.. The water itself, ie: different currents, temps, seem too effect stuff.. The hi speed #0-#1, which is like a 6.5"-7.5" but its a aggressive pitch and bigger fatter ears'.. so it may only be 6-7'' total outside dia.. but the ear's and pitch mite be 5" themselves.. Try the hi-speed props for solo runs, the 6.5-" hi-power for more weight.. the plain 7"' black props for 2 ppl, or unknon weight and water types.. I run the rivers too, so its always different.. Oh yea a good flowing aftermarket header-exhaust, and intake, mild cam, flywheels, is all you really need with these Hondas/212s.. I wouldn't go crazy with a real hot cam, stroker kits etc.. Because by time you do that, its reving out too 7k, and billet or not they will blow enventually.. Mild cam, billet flywheel + 2-3* timing key, stiffer valve springs, bigger jet in stock carb. #38?. Exhaust and more air in.. gettm so they cruise nice at 4500rpm-5krpm... and keep fresh oil, magnetic plug and theyll last a while.... aftert that.. id recommend just going up too a 10-15hp setup.. too get thatbit more of torque too spin 8-910" props.. but on a lill boat you mite be at the limit of whieght.. Believe it or not.. I got better top speed o na wider 34" flat bottom, with the rite prop, then again, i got a twister horntail, so my prop is not out in the back of the wake, or behind the wake.. so theres that point of no return i get with my setup..

Sounds like the 7.5 is getting you the best performance of the three. 15mph is pretty darn good. I only get 25mph on my boat with a 25hp motor. It's plenty fast enough for me though.

I got 15 a few days before this with the 6.5 w/o 60lb pete in the boat. Pete knocked that prop back to 12 mph. So w/o Pete and the 7.5 prop I should get 17or 18.....maybe a new video is in order.

A tach might be nice They are not expensive off ebay That governed honda might have still more umph I would prop it up till I could see a slight loss of rpm then go down a size if not two :)

@@MackinNC1 You neither want to overwind or lug a engine. I personally can not tell by ear Besides If a engine has a proper governor it should not overwind even if no prop at all.

@@MackinNC1 I respect honda The most popular engines in the world are honda. The honda super cub motorcycle for instance , Having over 100 million having been sold. That is more vehicles than anyone the world over Toro I do not respect and I see no happiness in their future Toro builds a electric 48 inch stand on mower now . I has a msrp of 34,000 us dollars I once stayed in a holliday inn with a fat girl and a big bathtub I am really lucky to have survived

Why does the shaft have to be so long?

So it doesn't point down in the water and push the nose of the boat down. Prop shaft has to clear the transom(back of boat). More efficient and protects the prop when running in the shallows. Also, that is a horizontal-shaft engine, like a tiller or go-cart engine, and has to run in an upright position to prevent oil from hitting the crankshaft, oil leaking into cylinders(fouling plugs) or carburetor(clogging air journals), etc.
