"The Great East Japan Earthquake and Nuclear Disaster Memorial Museum" (that's a mouthful) was a really great visit last time I went to Fukushima. It's such a shame you didn't get to visit! There's also the remains of Ukedo Elementary School, which is a school that you can visit and see the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku disaster. You'll definitely need a car for this trip and it's a bit tricky to find at first, but I highly recommend the visit so that you can witness all of the damage that was caused for yourself. As you drive to the school, you'll also see lots of abandoned buildings, car dealerships, etc that look frozen in time. Just please don't drive too close to the Fukushima Daiichi plant... when exploring, I took a wrong turn onto the unmarked road that leads to the entrance gates. After realising and pulling a U-Turn well before reaching them, the security drove out onto the public highway to flag me down, called the police and I almost got arrested. 0/10 would not recommend.

@@degenskonto6408 Really? I'd have really loved that. Sadly I don't think that I'll return there for the foreseeable. The security guards were very unfriendly and kept using derogatory terms to refer to my Vietnamese friend who was with me at the time. I'm not even sure they had the right to "pull me over" and check my documents on the public highway like they did because they weren't police, but I pulled over anyway because we didn't do anything wrong. It did negatively taint my experience of Fukushima as a whole sadly. Maybe I'll give it another shot when I get some time off work!
