Learn arabic and contact the scholars yourself when you have issues related to your family. 'Black nationalist issue?' A person who is descended from chattel slavery and all its brutality. Who has seen the ills and the problems in his community with parents and relatives etc should want to elevate their community. The Imam should address the needs of his community. Generational trauma is passed on through various means. Slavery has inflicted so much damage, this needs to be acknowledged and dealt with. Who do they walk with, who are their companions, who do they lecture with, and how are their relations with the well-known Salafi scholars and their students? If they claim Salafiyyah but walk, smile, eat with and accommodate the innovators, then know in fact he is not a true Salafi, no matter how loud he screams that he is.
