Salam Mufti sahab, you brought wonders in my life by making me understand the concept of my deen. My words won't be enough to say how grateful i am for the knowledge i gain by watching your videos. However there is only one thing that if you provide will make things even more clear and would give us the opportunity to study things ourselves and cement our knowledge that we get from your videos, and that are the references, like in the numbers. For example hadith number 123. Like in the detailed video regarding age of Ayesha, you mentioned so many hadith but you'd only narrate them and not give out the reference numbers to it.

Marriage is peak of commitment. I think marriage has a status that seals the strength in bond. If you are hesitant of marriage it means "دل میں میل ہے" What's wrong just saying "I do" three times

A Nikkah has to be public. Society has to know these two people are together. A boyfriend/girlfriend in public is also valid. They’ve accepted to be together. Islamic fiqh needs to get with the time. Maulvis are just worried about their own power and privilege being eroded.

Nikkah comes with rights to one another, boyfriend and girlfriend doesn't. The Islamic rights actually are beneficial where as boyfriend girlfriend come with vague, ambiguous terms that can be detrimental

A nikkah is simply a oath before God that you and your partner accept each other and will be together faithfully. If a bf/gf take an oath in public (and swear on what they find holy) and have at least two witnesses, it’s valid.

Usually insightful but Mufti missed the mark. Ask any person in a relationship why they aren’t married and they will tell you they aren’t ready for marriage and “that level of commitment.” This brings the conversation back to the types of marriages that were forbidden and why. The fact that marriages and family formation is on a decline but no virgins should tell you everything you need to know about these “relationships” with 90% of them failing.

At around 22.50 Mufti says ' How is that different to a Nikkah...' comparing a boyfreind/girlfriend relationship to an Islamic marriage!! Come on !!! In Islam, the nikkah carries serious responsibility for both parties, and in the case of divorce that maintanance of the children is the responsibility of the man. No such responsibility is required in the boyfreind/girlfreind relationship!!! In Islam, if one of the parties comits adultery, a divorce is the norm. Secular boyfrend/girlfrend have various weird relationships, including swaping partners or visiting swinging parties, yet still procaliming they are in commited relationship!!! If a Muslim man and woman do not want to register their wedding, fine, but you cannot have a secret relationship. By not registering the nikkah, you lose a significant amount of legal rights, including how pensions are calculated.

Well there is child support and defacto rights which are sometimes more inforceable than Islamic rights.

At least with a registered nikkah you are automatically given much more rights. I'm not convinced in the UK the law looks on favourably on common law marriage relationship.

@@sparephone8228 At the end of the day, rights will not matter if they cannot be enforced. So a "registered" nikah in a non Shariah country would be just as useless. There is such a concept where people should be trusted to act morally and justly. If the two parties in a relationship are moral and decent people, they will want to do what is right by others and should be trusted to act responsibly in the event of a split. At the end of the day, the concept of the nikah is simply to establish bonds that can help lay foundations for society. If a community or society can self-govern morally and justly, there is no reason nikahs need be as onerous as we make them out to be today. In fact, I would argue that the nikah is conceptually compatible with today's notion of modern dating. As long as people conduct themselves with dignity. So now the question is: as some of the most important khalifahs of society, are parents bringing their children up to treat other people right?

He is referring to long term marriage like relationships. The minimum requirements at least under one madhab needs to be meet for marriage of a Muslim.
