My hometown boys from Winnipeg, Canada! Randy Bachman was in another Winnipeg group called the The Guess Who who wrote the song American Woman. Randy left the group and formed BTO. He and Fred Turner shared lead vocals. It is Fred singing lead on this song. As for genre it is rock but bands from the 60's and 70's blended a number of genres together. Music wasn't as pigeon holed as it is now. Blues, Jazz, country and even classical music were influences. Other BTO songs Blue Collar Looking out for number one Taking Care of Business Ain't seen nothing yet Not Fragile Rolling down the Highway Cheers 🇨🇦

The band confronted a trucker who boxed them in on the highway. The trucker said "Let it Ride". Song was made based on that line.

Randy Bachman was part of The Guess Who & then went on to have a solo career with BTO. Both were great Canadian rock bands. BTO had a lot of great songs in the 70's such as "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care Of Business", "Hey You", "Roll On Down The Highway", "Lookin' Out For #1" etc.

This album, Not Fragile, was the first album I ever owned. Got it for Christmas 1973, when I was 12. Dude, disco wasn't a thing yet.

One of my most listened to groups growing up back in the 70's.Had their first 4 or 5 albums on 8-track. Craig powerplay with Jensen tri-axial speakers.

I'd be shocked if you haven't at least heard the hook from their songs 'Taking Care Of Business' and 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet'. Both songs have been used in movies and their hooks used in a lot of commercials over the years. Randy Bachman was previously in The Guess Who, also popular Canadian rock band among reactors. Another popular Canadian rock band among reactors is April Wine, particularly their "Roller" music video.

Randy Bachman is usually singing lead but this gravelly voice is Fred Turner's (bass). Randy's brother Robbie Bachman is on drums and Blair Thornton, was also a member in the 70's, guitar, and Randy plays guitar as well. Tim Bachman was also playing with the band at one time as well. They are classic rock. They also play jazz. Try Blue Collar by BTO. It is really groovy.

Saw BTO in concert in Halifax, NS in the mid 760's! They were great! Their opening act was Bob Segar and his band!

Besides this an all the tunes you mentioned, they had some hits that departed from the genre a little bit. One of my favorites was Blue Collar which is very low key and bluesy. BTO is one of my all time favorites. Great reaction!

Now that you mention it I can hear the BeeGee connection years later, good call. Funny, this BTO song was my first 45 record and my second was Nights on Broadway by the BeeGees. Also the intro and outro have a Doobie/country vibe to it, like being in the desert. Great video thanks brotha!

Use to be Guess Who with Burton Cummings. Then Burton moved on and Randy and the boy hooked up with Turner and the rest is history 😊

At the time the Bee Gees had a song out called Mr. Natural which pre-dated their falsetto disco days-the following year they would start the falsetto voices on Nights On Broadway during the coda of the song-then go full blown falsetto afterwards changing their sound altogether.

I had no headphones back then. I would put my floor speakers facing each other with a pillow in between. BTO is the first band I ever did that with! Cost me a fair amount of hearing, but that's ok. This song really takes me back!🤟

BTO is a deep rabbit hole Anwar, but one that's well worth it! May also want to check out another legendary Canadian band where Randy Bachman originally came from before this group, the Guess Who. Both are enormously legendary bands with amazing discography! Hopefully we hear from both BTO fans and Guess Who fans, as I would love for you to do more reactions to both!

Great song that everyone that was around in the '70s' if familiar with. BTO is a damn good rock band but I doubt that they influenced the BeeGees, just a coincidence with the groove of the songs. Oh, and it's an excellent skating rink song, lol.

I'm afraid you came into the theater halfway through the movie. Go further back with The Guess Who in the late 1960s. BTO came after Burton Comings went solo. Amicably. Try Laughing or American Woman by TGW and give his voice a listen. That'll give you more than a decade of hits.

#HOG in the house. Love your reactions and longtime sub. You don't know what you are saying when you say DISCO. I am over it and appreciate some disco, but the hatred between rockers and disco was intense. Probably similar too rap and how it portrayed itself and being exclusive from the rest of music. It could be the image of where rock came from in the 50's and early 60's with the style of fun, dancing, stage performances to what many perceived as the grown up rock and roll that was much more serious based and antiestablishment which was styled by growing hair for men, women not wearing bras and wearing jeans, hippies, protests, the music stretching the limits with electric guitars and woofers and sound systems to play it loud. Disco, in a sense, was a return to fun, club dancing music, with improved dance moves, more imaginative and creative with dressed up to show out, framed with all the glitzy surroundings of lighted dance floors, glittering globes. But one of the things that had started in rock, that many name bands like THE WHO, THE DOORS, and PINK FLOYD, and others, started to mix in synthesised music and keyboards that created sounds that some considered as taking away from musicians and the creativity in the craft. But overtime that became accepted as well. Just some thoughts.

Not sure how sampling works with the copyright laws. Back then artist were sued if a song sounded like another. George Harrison was sued for My Sweet Lord. They said he stole the tune from, He,s So Fine.
