Hi Seth, how big area did you cut in one hour/one day (8 hours)? Thanks

I have never measured an area and timed it. There is so much variance with the type of and density of various types of vegetation. I generally walk out the area a customer has called me about, discuss the level of detail they want, then give them a rough estimate of how much time/money I think it will cost. I charge $1800/day of straight mulching. But I don't think it's possible to mulch all day long. There are always unforeseen obstacles lurking in the vegetation. Be upfront and fair and communicate with your customers and they are typically understanding.

Thanks Seth, I have passion in this "small" machines. In the past I have rented crawler excavator and dumper. So I was asking because I want to rent Ditch witch or Vermeer with RotaDairon BRD 50 and mulching my new garden. There are a lot of small thin threes (about 1 inch), but more or less same vegation like in video. So I want to know approximately how many days I need to rent. So If you could say some area and time will be very helpful for me.

Hey really enjoyed your videos. I have a small tree service and am thinking about buying one exactly like this. I am hesitant because it has the narrow tracks. Have you ever had stability problems on un even Terrain or wished you had a wide tracked model? Thanks

First... Thanks for viewing. I have been using Dingos since my first days in business 17 years ago and they have all been narrow track machines. Have machines been tipped over?... Yes, but it had nothing to do with the narrow tracks. We were climbing something sketchy or slipped a ramp while loading. Typically the greatest cause for tipping is carrying your load too high or being on terrain/situation that you already know is sketchy before you begin. My advice to you is this.... You can work on more jobs with a narrow machine (access thru gates and skinny side yards) and get into tight places easier. Only you know if you are a reckless person. If you are, then go with wide tracks and be prepared for highly restricted usage of your machine. And you'll likely flip it anyway. In my years I've met dudes that seem to live by the creed "They can destroy an anvil with a feather". Hopefully you aren't that guy because it makes it difficult to make money and retain repeat customers. Whichever way you choose to go I have a valuable piece of advice for you. Immediately purchase a Vermeer Log Grapple (mine are LG 46 or 42) and the Toro Grapple Rake (36" wide). I use the Vermeer grapple because so many other grapples seem to shift the "load" (weight) further out away from the machine, whereas the Vermeer grapple really allows you to tuck your load closer to the machine (and more so up over the tracks). Lastly, I have found Toro machines to be very solidly built and durable. They seem to use better quality components when building their machines. Now granted... I take care of my machines and don't abuse them, but at the same time I work those sons of bitches so they earn their keep. Toro machines also seem to have more ergonomics built into them than its competitors. I don't know if you're a young man or an old man, but this will be important to you the longer you use them and the older you get. I have run machines by Vermeer and Ditch Witch in addition to my Dingos. And every other machine that isn't a Dingo felt like I was riding on a tank all day and beat the hell out of my body. I'm happy to answer any other questions you have or field any discussions you want to have.

What diameter of saplings can you realistically cut and mulch without beating up the machine and blades?
@sokguru7 жыл бұрын
RotaDairon says 2.5"-3" and I concur with that. Obviously that size material slows your progress significantly. The attachment is very well built, so only abuse, disregard or use with very dull blades would cause the attachment to prematurely wear. Please reply with any additional questions.

Yeah I noticed you gnawing away at a good sized limb that was 4-5 in. and it seemed to handle it pretty well seeing as how you just eased into it. I was intrigued. So I take it that it will handle 2.5-3 in. hardwood nicely? Did you ever look at the Eterra Sidewinder flail mower? I wonder how they compare. I found your vid while researching them. Also, how do you like that TX 1000? The engine that they run is a good bit smaller than ditch witch and vermeers in the same class but a lot of people swear by them. I actually got a quote on one at my local dealership but they didn't have a demo. Have you ran any others that you could compare it to? I'm mainly wondering how they crank out enough hydraulic pressure and flow with the 24.5 hp Kubota to match the performance of these 35-40 hp minis that it competes with. No one seems to be able to give me a square answer. But again, the few people that I've talked to say that they're awesome.
