Finding time to work for yourself is always a problem. That said, there is no more rewarding feeling that seeing your own ground improved and looking at the finished project. Thanks for taking us along Chris. Enjoy life and put your feet up once in while.

My operator back in the 80's, would dig the roots and use the side of the bucket to push the trees over. That was with a new 955 or 977 at the time. Things were crazy powerful in counter rotation. Great to see someone else that knows how to keep their equipment in good shape. Keep up the good work Chris.

The way Chris like to build burn piles he may need 100 yards or better to the nearest tree he wants to keep. 80-foot flames tend to put out a lot of heat. I do like watching them.

That gear shift fix sounds like reverse engineering. I am learning from you that being a good operator is as much about track placement as it is about where the blade/bucket is. 👍👍👍

Looking good. My old boss showed me on those pines, is to come in low and soon as your bucket hits, lift up and it will pop the tap root. That older fella down in Florida does same except with a D5

At least it’s a “one and done” project! You gained back a lot of usable real estate in a short time. Any future fence lines should be easy manageable with the mini-mulcher. Thanks for sharing Chris!

Chris, with welding some teeth on the side of the loader bucket, it will help to grab and lift things. Small upgrade, big advantage in operation.

I just saw a new approach by you on a tree take down. You were going after a 2 fer at the 20:13 mark, you pushed high to start them and then backed off and it looked like you put bucket under the loose root ball of one at a time and lifted to lay the tree down. Never witnessed you doing that before, but it certainly worked. I like the 953, nice machine. Thanks for the ride along sir, nice job.

with that clam, you can cut grade within an inch. and with the teeth, you can rake out rocks, concrete chunks or roots by driving forward and skimming the ground---i open the clam slightly while raking to see whats ahead. of course, if the teeth come off the ground or dig in---you have to back up....but its possible to rake very fast and keep those teeth skimming going forward. with practice you can rake up a very clean pile. you have the touch, you'll be able to do that. (some guys cant do it, they dont have the discipline to stay that focused or the touch to keep the teeth skimming)

Chris to save the valuable tree trunks. Maybe work out a way to easily attach and unattach two or three old truck or tractor tires to the leading edge of the bucket to act kind of like boat bumpers is the idea. Cheap but effective. Eh?

Back in the day those skinny pines would be cut up and stacked out of the way on runners to age a little then be used for gate and corner posts on fencing. but then we could not afford fancy fence companies to come string our wire and posts and had to do it on lowest possible budget. I remember using two inch pine posts in the middle cause metal T posts were too expensive back then. Yeah, they rotted out after some years but maybe by then we could upgrade to T posts. I just hope we do not get back to when that was the only way to do things because of the economy overall. Looking good Chris.
