What are some other shooting "bad habits" you can think of?
@cevinriley988
@cevinriley988 3 жыл бұрын
A bad habit that I had to get over was torquing the bow by grabbing the grip at the last second as I was releasing. A wrist strap helped me get over that. Really helped increase my accuracy.

Good stuff. Great reminder for sure. One thing I like to do every so often is shoot through paper to double check my form and make sure I’m not torquing my bow.

Shooting thru paper is great as long as you have the experience to understand why you have a tear. If you were shooting bulletholes and later on you are getting tears it could be cam timing, facial pressure, string stretch, a bad release or yes hand torque. That dude showing you was very correct you need to develop a shot routine and do everything the same each time. In time you will know what you did wrong when you miss, you will feel it on the shot and if you did everything right and your still off then take your bow in to get the timing checked and your bow spect out!

Great video, key is to set that grip before you are in that draw cycle and set that shot routine early. Good job guys!

I would’ve cut the arrows longer. Would’ve kept the broadheads in front of the shelf and your hand/ fingers. If you’re shooting mechanicals you’d probably be okay, but you like to hold your bow high up on that shelf which is fine if it works for you thats great. Paige Pierce is the same way. But just remember that puts your fingers in the danger zone when shooting fixed broad heads.

We set Erik’s arrows up with a 4-fletch. I am a big proponent for 4-fletch as they correct faster coming out of the bow. They are much more forgiving with a broadhead as well.

Looks like your DL is too long. I used to shoot my DL long to get more speed out of my bow. Set my new bow up with the correct DL and I noticed I torque the bow way less.
@MuleyFreak
@MuleyFreak 3 жыл бұрын
So you're saying a shorter DL should equate to less torque?
@kyledouglas5382
@kyledouglas5382 3 жыл бұрын
His draw length is definitely not too long. Maybe a little short if anything. But you are correct in that having the right draw length helps with reducing torque on the bow.
@travismiller5438
@travismiller5438 3 жыл бұрын
@@MuleyFreak in my opinion yes. If your draw length is too long it forces you to over compensate with your bow hand. That is just my opinion based on my own experience.
@travismiller5438
@travismiller5438 3 жыл бұрын
@@kyledouglas5382 i would love to hear your thoughts on proper DL and proper anchor points. I was taught tip of nose, corner of mouth. Are there other things that matter more? Honest question here.
@kyledouglas5382
@kyledouglas5382 3 жыл бұрын
@@travismiller5438 There are a lot more factors that go into draw length than your nose on the string and corner of your mouth. If you watch when Erik shoots he tends to have a bent front arm and his front shoulder tends to scrunch up a bit. This makes it difficult to judge draw length by looking at where the string is at on his face. Draw length is one of the most critical factors for accuracy with a bow and there are a ton of things that come into account when trying to dial in draw length perfectly. Ultimately it comes down to steadiness. If your hold floats around slowly but never settles your draw length is too long. If your hold is more jittery your draw length is too short.
