Hana on drums knows how to mesh with bass playing because she was an accomplished bassist before she joined Gacharic Spin. She and high-school classmate Hideki Aoyama (now of the Kami Band) formed a pop group called Armeria - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqiTaKqBopqiepI - that managed to get signed but eventually broke up. She moved on to becomes bassist for another project called "The Spade13" before eventually teaming up with KOGA (another high-school classmate) to form Gacharic Spin. She ended up on drums because she some previous experience in a side project called Heian (with KOGA) whereas KOGA only knew how to play bass.

I love this song and performance so much! That main riff of Tomo-zo's with those crunchy inverted powerchords with tapping licks interspersed is so cool, then Koga's rumbling slap bass riffs and Oreo's ethereal vocals...just amazing. Hana's drum solo is fantastic as well. Not just spamming quads or Portnoy's, telling a story, building tension and releasing it, using dynamics and a variety of techniques to create a mini story in a concise 2 minutes of drumming.

Thanks to you and your patron for putting this on the program. All of the bandmembers are multi-talented, including doing vocals. Oreo even does occasional growls (as does Hana). Fuki (lead vocal) is a living legend--as you probably know from Unlucky Morpheus. And of course Hana is a musical Jedi.

Its been 5 years since their comeback and i'm not sure when Dollsboxx will be returning again, with FUKI fully committed to Unlucky Morpheus while others have Gacharic Spin to focus on. I'm sad though as this was the first supergroup long way before Nemophila coming together.

I think it's more likely to be down to the covid situation, the way they are treating it in Japan, and Gacharic Spin wanting to do more with the current line up. FUKI normally has 3 or 4 projects on the go, as she is a workaholic, and Unlucky Morpheus apart from releasing an album this month don't really have a lot going on, 3 dates to support the album, they are doing a few show here and there as normal. So Fuki has a lot of time on her hands.

Totally different dynamic… Before they just dropped the performers and had fuki take over Hana’s lead vocals. Now we have angie who is rapidly progressing toward Primary lead vocals, Hana is now out front also unless you put her back on drums for doll$boxx. Would probably need to do another Doll$fest with gacharic spin, doll$boxx , unlucky Morpheus and Whatever else Hana’s mind can produce. Would love to see a number of the idle bands including Genghis kan and the crack circus group…

One of these days I’ll relocate the other Hana drum solo from that day?!/month (GS, not DB). More crowd, more use of the huge drum which is set to trigger two or three different ways (center vs rim at minimum). Of course their talent is hard to overestimate. This is my fav song, multiple prog bridges, Oreo’s haunting wail, lyrics are big parts of it. Hana’s vox alone: growl, rap, low harmony(doubling?), high harmony. But I’ll highlight that the spoken rap parts (as often the case) are English ! In this case, the title line: “he dominated the ancient world’s wars, his name ilia Dragonet”(think French lil dragon). Fuki penned fantasy lyrics about the very last dragon, used as a weapon/warrior for eons, then banished to the stars to cry blood forever… Too. Much. Try the transliteration button to follow her pronunciation, and slot the bits of English so often sprinkled in (actually maybe none in this case, I think it’s archaic language actually! Silly Fuki. But you should always check these Japanese bands for use of unnoticed English, esp BandMaid prolifically) lyricstranslate.com/en/dragonet-dragonet.html-0

Fuki is still great, but unfortunately you can tell her voice isn’t what it was 10 years ago. I’d encourage you to check out her earlier work in Lightbringer, especially the official video for Resistance. And you can’t go wrong with the first Doll$Boxx album if you want to stay with this group. Loud Twin Stars is amazing
