In a multi-level page table for the "smallest possible program", would I include each of the possible entries in PT1 in the overall size of the PT structure or only the 2 entries that would be used?

Thanks for the great video. It brought a lot of clarity to me about how page directories work and why they are useful.

If we have 2^47 entries, and each entry being 8 bytes long, isn't the size of the virtual memory be 2^47 x 2^3 = 2^50 bytes instead of 2^59?
@bawfng048 ай бұрын
nah, I got it, 2^50 is the size of the page table, each entry will mapped into a page, which is 2^12 byte, so we have 2^47 entries = 2^47 pages, each page 2^12, and we have the size of the VM is 2^59

the page table doesnt store pages it only stores the index to them , how is the size of page table equals to number of page * size of page ? thats impossible and not true , plus the size of asingle page table is normally the size of one page , so what you did is not right
@dushyantjakhar17168 ай бұрын

I think no of bits required for page no is equal to the log of size of page table
