@matthewjbauer199021 сағат бұрын
@@timmoss6372 Yes, you get the 24 hour rolling guide. However, per their FAQs page, without a subscription, you're limited to watching and recording the same show at the same time (The Zapperbox M2 is a single tuner so not a problem, only an issue on the M1 which is a dual tuner). Also, their FAQs page says without a subscription, you cannot share your recordings to networked devices. If all you want to do is watch ATSC 3.0, there are cheaper devices for this that @AntennaMan Tyler can recommend.

I can pull in 85 local channels and surprisingly all the ATSC 3.0 channels that are available. What I'm really waiting for is the streaming apps for smart TV's. It could be a while, but it's going to be amazing when it is a true gateway device. :)

@ Honestly it’s hard to tell the difference. I have 2 4K LG OLED TV’s. One has a Firestick running the DirecTV Stream app. If I look at the info on the TV to see the resolution being pushed through it is 2160p. I doubt that is true resolution since I’m not watching a 4k channel. The other TV has the Zapperbox. If I tune to the same channel I can see it is 1080p direct from the broadcast. If I look at both of these side by side, you can’t really tell. It’s definitely not drastic. I might have to try again when a football game is on. 😆

Subscription, yuck! I'm unsure what Zapperbox recommends but be careful about SD card selection. Sandisk has high initial write speed but slows down as the card heats up leading to write errors (unless buffered). Samsung have lower initial write speeds but has a write wear out mechanism that kicks in after approx 200 hours of MPEG recording. The Samsungs have a five year waranty, so I return them for replacement. The larger Samsungs generally have higher write speed than the smaller ones. The read speed on all these cards is adequate. Cheers!

I was thinking the same thing. I just cut the cable and got the tablo myself. Tablo is cheap, includes storage, free guide, client apps on most platforms and simple stupid to setup with one device. It can be a little temperamental and slow sometimes but for the price it was a low risk no brainer. Zappier is going to have to offer a more relyable product, with a much better user experience and feature set than Tablo to be competive at its price point. Also I would not hold my breath for the smart TV and phone apps It's not easy it takes most companies a year or two get everything figured out.

Only the decoder/converter/reciever decides that, for example I have an antenna that works fine on AM, even when broadcasting on UHF from my house, and it works totally fine, but yet, they market it as an FM Antenna? It should say what bands it supports and completely forget about the mile range and the frequency they "claim to support". The thing is you don't know. Some will work just as good or bad for others.
