I don't know alot about it, but what I do is that there is a PRIMARY difference in the sense that primary scream advocates discharging affect with screaming and such. In ISTDP we view discharge as a defense. Our goal is to facilitate the INTERNAL experience of feeling and impulse without doing anything to get rid of it - neither turning it on the self or acting on it.

Did you ask for a dream or did the patient come with it unsolicited? And does that matter at all?
