Maybe we should do away with data collection and brokering, that would end a lot of scams rather quickly.

I got one that said in the outside that my overdue payments could be resolved if I contacted them. I HAVE NO OVERDUE PAYMENTS and haven’t for decades. When I did it was accidental and once in a decade. I also paid everything off that same week. All zero balances. So this is annoying. Like my mailman thinks I give him $200 tip at Christmas even though I have overdue balances. But he knows better, too. He’s seen it all. All the slime that does this kind of crap.

Aquantance of mine, purchased a house few years back, cash deal. Shortly after closing of the purchase deal, she received a letter from some company in CA stating that if she wanted a deed to the new house she needed to send them $90 and an application with her signature to get it. She didn't do it. Threw that paper away. She was given Warranty Deed to her house at the closing.. Few months later, she learned from her County office that it was a scam warning buyers to beware

It's actually "decreasing value" life insurance because the policy only pays off the remaining value of the loan, and that number goes down with each payment you make.

I retired in 2003 at 50 and I paid off my mortgage the same year. I then decided to have a enclosed heated swimming pool installed in 2016 with a low interest 30 year mortgage. Knowing that I'm not likely to be around in 30 years, but I can enjoy my pool. Everything is done electronically. My retirements & my payments. If I get something in the mail, I open it, read it and then recycle the paperwork in the trash can. Problem solved.

I used to work for Regions Financial Corp./Bank🙄😵💫🫨🤕. Sigh, I do notice two tale-tell signs in the phony advertisement shown by reporter: (1) Take a moment to compare a questionable notice to your official bank statement or monthly loan payment notice/statement. (2) Pay attention to the details that stand out when comparing a questionable document to your official bank statements/mortgage notices.
