how do you do the last example, if the selectors are BCD, cause it would be different right?

Yes, it is different. Of course, you can make a table and find the relevant inputs. But it won't be convenient. Because, now your minterms in the table are not in a sequence. For example, for BCD = 0, you are grouping minterm m0 and m8. Likewise, for BCD = 001, in the table, two minterms will be m1 and m9. So, of course, you can make such groups, and find the value of each pin in terms of variable A. But it won't be a straight forward. I hope, it will clear your doubt.

are data lines and selection lines the same thing?

Data lines are the input lines, where we apply the input. Selection lines, select the specific input. And that input appears at the output. For example, in 4 *1 MUX, if selection inputs are 00, then first input will appear at the output. I hope, it will clear your doubt.

Hi, would you please mention where you are referring ? Do you mean, while implementing any Boolean Function, if two selection lines are connected together (S1 and S0) then how the circuit will behave ? Well, if that is the case, then instead of all 8 different input combinations, we can get only 4 input combinations.

No it is not compulsory. But when you have multiple lines, and when you write the truth table for the selection inputs then S2 represents the MSB, an S0 represents the LSB. So, naturally when we label these lines in the multiplexer diagram, then we used to represent them in the same order.

I think, you are talking about the implementation of Boolean function using the multiplexer. In that, we have assumed that we have some function F, which is 1 for the specific input combination. And the corresponding truth table is represented. Here function arbitrarily chose.

Typically, while solving such questions, the Boolean expression of the function F will be given. And from the Boolean expression, you will get to know that, for what minterms, the function F is equal to 1.
