What happens if you pray that prayer repeatedly but you get no response? Is it that you are not tuned into the special frequency that will allow you to hear or get the answers? Or is it that no answer was given? Did I not fast enough? Did I not read the Bible enough, Did I not pray hard enough? Is my heart not really meaning what I ask? Do I have some sin that is preventing me from hearing? Do I need to be without sin, at least for a period to be able to hear? It is beyond frustrating that so many preachers act like all you have to do is ask, just pray. Please tell me why it doesn’t work for me and I would guess countless others. I think it is why we have mega churches, because so many feel that someone else has that ability and they hope to get an answer through them. Why does it seem like there is a special formula that if you do not know it or follow it exactly that you might as well talk to a rock or the wall? I believe in God, I believe in Jesus, I do not doubt their existence, or that they can and do intervene on behalf of their people and answer some prayers, but most of the time I feel like we are on our own and we make decisions that will impact our lives in ways that may not be our purpose at all because we do not know what it is which causes a myriad of problems. If I had the same proposal that Solomon had, I believe I would ask for the ability to hear from God whenever I ask, so that I could know his will for my life at all times and be in his will if I followed what I was told, without wondering what it is and asking and not hearing. Maybe God knows I wouldn’t follow if I did d hear from him? But even if that is the case, let me know so I won’t keep asking and getting frustrated because I do not get an answer. I get that it doesn’t have to be an audible response, it could be in dreams, visions, word of knowledge, another person telling me what God told them, etc. whatever method God chooses is ok with me as long as I know for certain it was from him.

1 Kings 3:13 God also stated to Solomon; "And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days." God is basically stating, Solomon was going to be extremely wealthy, cause Solomon didn't ask for riches, it was all God's decision.
