I took my kayak out with 5 spinning rods ranging from an ultralight rod (with 2lb test) all the way up to a Medium rod (with 8lb test). Overall, my mission was simple in this trip... Catch a bunch of fish on light line and enjoy a beautiful spring evening!
I started out by smashing bluegill on various baits (rigged on a Mule Jig). I followed that up with a small Ima Flit jerkbait for some thick bass. I then ran into this big surprise catch on 2lb test! Was I expecting this fish to eat a 1/64oz Mule Jig?! HECK NO! But I will take it :)
This year, I have full intentions of using more light line! I feel like light line fishing / ultralight fishing is something I am good at and I thoroughly enjoy. Make sure to stay tuned for more videos like this in the future!
