The thing about was shields or blocking is usually if we need grabs, and not all characters have grabs or armour breaking moves so there wouldn’t be many ways to counter people blocking or shielding

I don't think MVS needs shields, I like that they don't exist. If they do bring them in, i hope they bring them in as a Perk so you have to sacrifice something to take them.

Honestly if they could. A chance to playtest the new characters before release so we can check for things that have caused issues before everyone starts spending Gleamium or FC. Sure 1 day to test isn't much. But if they started doing the next season release trailers a week earlier than the release and let that testing grounds be dedicated to it and then vice versa for the mid season ones. It'd be nice to get the chance to test them ahead of time.

I don’t like the idea of shields, i think a block button would be a great alternative. When a fighter is blocking while being attacked, they would take less damage and knockback until eventually their guard breaks and stunned for a short time.

@@AYEANNI not really, the block can have drawbacks.(don’t block for too long or don’t take too much damage/attacks). When the DEVS say shields i think an incredibly over powered block that can stop anything dead in its tracks. Doesn’t sound fun to play against imo

Thanks for the info! This is great! I used to say that shields would be great for the game. But I've gotten used to fighting without it. We won't know until we try it, but what if we won't like it? Good to have test and feedback. Imo the way it should work is: 1) By default, dodging in place and holding it should activate it after the dodge window (parry window still applies) 2) Have an option to be it's own button. I haven't decided on how many hit's it takes to break, and wondering now if command throws should also be implemented?

Great points especially with the command grabs. I was thinking the same thing. That generally is the answer to adding a shield.

Here's how I would do it: Press and hold the dodge button to instantly shield. Press down while shielding to spot dodge. Press the shield button right as you're about to get hit to parry. Holding shield will slowly drain dodge meter, and getting hit while shielding will make it drain faster. Any move that breaks armor will go through shields and take off a chunk of dodge meter. I really hope the devs add shields to the game.

I'd prefer them to give us the option to turn cross gen on or off and still have crossplay on. So we'd have less connection issues for those who really hate that issue. I'd rather them give us clanks than anything and give moves various priority over others. and then give all of bugs, taz, and Tom/Jerry's moves all low priority even lower than side combos and now we can talk about shields.

I wish they add Shields Drops for Mobility reasons and the aerial version could be like a Smaller Shield that works like Shield Tilting like in Smash, but the Diffrence is that you need Tilt to Survive

I don't like the shield concept. We already have the dodges and parry which was not a mechanic in the beta but turned out to be pretty good.

In the morning before the Into the Verse aired, I was thinking how shields could work in Multiversus, so when they showed that they were going to be testing them, I was so happy. I think shields would a great addition to the game. Dodging works fine, but I like the leniency that shields provide. I saw a video that said that without shields, Multiversus relies much more on aggression and can really button mashy. Plus I can see shields in helping to block special moves that some people like to spam, like Shaggy's side special, and making it easier to counter attack them. So having shields can add an extra layer of strategy to the game. The way I would make shields work is to make them a universal mechanic that everyone has with it draining the dodge meter the longer you hold the shield button, and to have armor break moves go through shields. Sorry this comment is so long, I'm just super excited for shields.

People complain that the game would be more campy with shields, but that’s already the state of the game. These players just run away and spam their moves. Shield would mitigate that spam fest and add way more strategy than just spamming and being boringly passive. Rank, go ahead and do what you must, but casuals that is the most frustrating play style.

Yeah ive stated multiple times if they add shields im just quitting the game. If the game initially started with shields i wouldnt mind stuff like that but its the fact the game was designed around dodging and not shielding. Adding them will slow the game down and lead to more turtling and kill off a majority of the playerbase due to it not being as fast paced anymore. And i 100% agree with that tinfoil hat theory. I do not believe these devs care about a casual and mid range audience. All they care about is the handful of higher up voices. Which MAY bring them back to the game if they add shields but ultimately kill of the casual fanbase along with it. And honestly if they do im praying for their downfall and maybe it teach them a lesson to listen sometime instead of just hearing only to the loudest person in the room

@@HenrySuggs-by5nd The time it takes to find matches is less than a minute (average 20 seconds). That is far from dead. I’ve been in a dead game before, it took more than 5, even 8 minutes to find matches. But I stayed in the game till the end. You don’t know what a dead game truly is.
