Hermitcraft 9: Episode 7 - NEW START!

In this episode on the Minecraft Hermitcraft server, Mumbo returns to Hermitcraft season 9! In this Hermitcraft episode: Mumbo Jumbo finishes up his Minecraft starter base, visits Grumbot and the rift in the Grian Basement, meets up with Docm77 for a giant industrial slime farm, and much more. This Minecraft survival episode is filled with big Minecraft builds, and fun interactions between the Hermits on Hermitcraft 9.

My favourite interaction must either be: 1. When Zedaph went around and showed off his arrow-catching skills to all the different hermits. It was fun to see their reactions, and the mechanics behind it were quite interesting. 2. Etho secretly moving in to Bdubs' secret basement after the whole Ren for king thing started. 3. Doc and Scar's showoff in the arena Doc built down in his perimeter. Scar's alter ego, HotGuy, had caught the attention of Doc, so Doc challenged him to a one-on-one duel, with the reward being an ender dragon pet. Unbeknownst to Scar, Doc had built a machine that could fire an arrow at several thousand blocks per second, through blocks, activated wirelessly, which he used to win the duel.

Favorite tiny event was during Grian's time on the Empires SMP. He placed a single block of TNT and a button at Jimmy's base, where Scar was staying, and left it there, saying "Scar will find it." Later in the same episode (probably a few real world hours later), Scar casually mentions to Grian that he just blew a hole in Jimmy's base. Best of all, it's such a quick comment that Grian MISSED IT and the joke is never aknowledged again.

Details you may have missed: • Scar voiced a fictional audiobook for a Grian ad break • Iskall made an audition tape to be hired by King Ren, which prompted Joe, Cleo, and Scar to makes ones as well to join the King’s Council. Cub was invited to the group based on a magic trick that frankly still baffles me. • Scar became a menace with a bow. His exclamation of “Hawkeye” got misheard, and so now he is HotGuy, and CuteGuy Grian is his sidekick. • Grian got paid half a diamond to help blow up the king’s netherite throne. • Doc has an arrow cannon that can obliterate a player in full netherite armor. • The end portal is in the corner of the nether hub, down a bit of a drop. The floor is snow covered in carpets, so you won’t take fall damage, but in case you run out of rockets there’s a hidden backdoor out of it so you don’t get stuck. • Similarly, the nether roof is accessible through the tree at the center of the nether hub. • Joe got engaged, and decided to announce this by saying he betrayed the king. You see, he lied to the king in saying he had a prior engagement, when in actuality he has a new one. • Martyn was briefly whitelisted to help with the charity livestream, and stole a singular block of diamond ore from Doc which will never be returned. • Jimmy’s reaction to seeing Grian invade his server during the crossover was “oh no not him” • The mountainous donut near spawn that was going to be someone’s base, and then was going to be the shopping district, and then got kinda left in the dust, is now a festive holiday village, courtesy of the Empires crossover. There’s plenty of cool builds there, but in particular Cleo’s mini armor stand hermits are just so adorable.

Mumbo, tinted glass kills all light coming in from outside, That's why everything vanishes when you put in the last block. So in order to get the real effect you need some light source under the glass.

The little things Gem is secretly an interdimensional astral being with the ability to hop between worlds. When the hermits entered the rift, she was already in the new world and had friends there. Grumbot is heavily implied to sweep the multiverse, find new worlds, and destroy them if they don't have a Mumbo. False has an actual evil twin that she wiped the memories of and sent through the rift to try to give her a relatively normal life. Little things. You know how it is.

WELCOME BACK MUMBO! It’s nice to see you back on Hermitcraft again! Here’s some other details you’ve missed: - Scar made a whole new hero persona called HotGuy. Grian joined him as his sidekick CuteGuy. - The Grumbot in Grian’s base is actually Grumbot Prime and he came from an alternate timeline/universe where he knew you never became mayor - While Ren was king, Impulse, Gem, and Pearl formed the Soup Group to resist him and eventually bring him down. - Grian made a “resistance assistance” because he refused to be predictable by resisting Ren, but he still wanted to assist the resistance. This backfired when Ren hired his resistance assistance to assist him in resisting the resistance. Naturally, Grian betrayed him.

A few favorite moments were as follows: - Zedaph and Keralis going around the server spying on different Hermits, especially when they spied on Tango. - Grian putting on a Puppet show for Pearl, Scar and Bdubs - The finale of the diamond pillar war with Scar, Pearl, and Grian vs Impulse, Cub, and Doc. Also, are those the diamonds that went missing from the King's Vault... I KNEW they were in Mumbo's Vault.

The best bit is, I'm still pretty sure the actual problem with the original slime farm is just that it is _exactly_ one block too high. Spawning platform at y=70 when the limit is y=69. Classic off-by-one error.

In regards to your request, some favorite small moments of mine while you were gone include the Hermits being shorter than the Emperors while everyone was on Empires, Grumbot Prime’s “My Grian was sorry too,” Emperor Grumbot wanting to destroy all of Empires because you weren’t there, and Grian’s prank present on Pearl that backfired and pranked himself.

Favorite little moment: When Ren proposed to the Hermits the idea of him becoming King, the only one who said "no" was Scar. And thus the King's first decree was throwing him from a trapdoor (I believe it's called the Sun Gate?) from the top of Bdubs tower xD Bonus: that meeting also gave birth to two audio tracks that were later used on goat horns (with a plugin or something the server has) of Bdubs's voice saying "You speak when spoken to!" and "Shut up!". Ask Scar about them, maybe he still has them! =)

My favorite moments kinda recently in season 9 were during the crossover with Empires, especially during the hermits' first episodes after going thru the Rift - Cleo and Xisuma became pirates (and changed their game language to pirate speak too) - Tango got a witch hat and it was amazing - Grian terrorized Jimmy Solidarity - idk if you watched Double Life (do if you haven't, it's great) but Tango and Jimmy's reunion was everything we the fans could've hoped for - Keralis and MythicalSausage are perfectly complimentary, it was amazing - Gem being a member of both servers was comedy gold for interactions, she intimidated Impulse so effectively lol - Grian and Impulse went after Pixlrifs with the Hermit Recap music ASAP, which led to a continuous joke that only ended with the crossover ending lol While still on Empires: - Grian ended up starting a new game of tag, where they had to kill someone from the other server a certain way to tag, spawning many a funny death - Grian stumbled upon a creepy shrine to Jimmy the Sheriff, it was very ominous - Cub got infected by the mysterious mangrove swamp fog, and started spreading skulk everywhere - The Grumbot that got built over there was very evil because it wanted you but you weren't there lol. He was blown up in the end - Joe had dozens of cats - B-Dubs declared himself the Sun God, as you do - There was a lot of "lag" at the start lol, also "we don't use words like steal, we say borrow" - After the Empires people followed thru the Rift, they built in that donut and made it the Christmas area - There was a secret santa that both hermits and empires people participated in, the Razor Crest in Scarland being one of the gifts I'm gonna stop now bc this list is getting long lol

Im absolutely chuffed to bits that youre back! Maybe try Sculk Catalyst at the bottom of your little ravine.. its a light source block but the top still looks like sculk. It'll put light on the bottom and show through your layered glass better. (if it were deeper [meaning more layers of glass], you might be able to get away with prismarine lamp covered in sculk vein to give a similar yet, deeper fog effect)

Welcome back!!!! Small things that probably won't be brought up: - Doc has a charged creeper cannon aimed directly at Grain's mega base, located on the edge of the perimeter - There are custom horns now! And be very afraid, they are used for pranks and can definitely deafen you, or at the very least startle you. - Grian resisted creating a resistance, but only through a very contrived series of explanations and loop holes. In one of his floating boulders, you should still be able to find the remnants of N.A.R. standing of "Not A Resistance." - The entirety of Total Mayhem (pretty sure that's the name, but not guaranteed), which is a minigame just as hectic as the name implies. - Content generated by Grumbot, including a warden puppet show put on by Grian, the prompts that kickstarted the revolution against Ren the King ("Remove, King, Claim"), and Gem battling against a frog trained with a Rocky style montage, to name a few. - Zedaph's pig chain obstacle course resulting in the death of many innocent pigs, a few Hermits, and some lead based slingshot-ing - The bird that can crash your game, AKA a Grian prank on Scar featuring _FAR_ too many shriekers and a skulk sensor, resulting in deafening noise - The super speedy highway currently being built, but more importantly Grian's R2-D2 noises upon learning about the mechanics behind it and testing them out himself - (Hermitcraft adjacent) Scar and Grian being randomly selected soulmates in Last Life S3 - The free range ghasts wandering about the overworld from a prank gone _right_ - The christmas village in the donut - The power of fishing poles (as well as leads, but mainly fishing poles). Seriously, bring a couple people around and get a chain of them hooked, they can get some serious air, height, and velocity - Try out the content generated by Grumbot, it will be _interesting_ to say the least if it still works - When there was the Hermitcraft/Empires crossover, Grian made a Hemit-ifier machine which shrunk Hemits down by just about half a block (little less than, but generally) _EXCEPT_ for BDubs who was shrunk even more >:) - Scar has made the latest and greatest version of his creeper prank and costume, and managed to get Cleo to swear by pranking her along with Grian's help. Later on, he also pranked BDubs except got pranked himself by Grian unintentionally, who was supposed to help startle BDubs. - Custom discs have been around for a while, but now there's a way to loop/automate them! That's all I can think of off the top of my head!

Some of my favorite smaller moments: That one machine which made the hermits short, and bdubs became EXTRA short was so funny. The party in Ren’s “private areas” and aftermath as everyone immediately fled. Cub’s evil arc on empires. Zed giving AFK Tango tons of achievements. The April Fools Gary riddle Doc was frustrated trying to solve for ages, and his reaction to Stress solving it in less than a minute. The Hotguy obstacle course made for Scar by Grian which ended in getting trapped and exploded. Reveal that Gem cosplays in different universes. Bdubs’ head store and the open mic night

I know I'm several weeks late, but in catching up with this series, I figured I would drop this fun fact since it keeps coming up: copper does not oxidize in contact with water. If you submerge copper in water, it will prevent it from tarnishing. It's oxygen in the atmosphere that causes the reaction.

Here's a small yet entertaining event. Pearl kept complaining about grians storage system ( or more accurately the lack of one ) so he blew up all off his shulkers and chests right in front of her and meniacly sat back and watched as Pearl panicked and quickly tried to save everything before it desporned - easily one of my favourite moments so far in season 9 :)

Favorite moment would have to be grians "present" for pearl. You should see it, but I'll try to do it some justice here. Essentially, grian trolled pearl by putting all his stuff in a big gift full of chests, which was rigged so that when pearl opened it and read a book, a charged creeper blew up all of the stuff, and caused pearl to panic, which then caused grian to realize the full severity of the situation, and helping her put away almost literally everything he owned in the server. But you should definitely see it to get the full extent if you haven't already

Add in at the middle or absolute bottom, add end rods to light from the bottom with the tinted glass on top - that might be a way to finess a 'glow' of sorts while getting your desired color - note: I haven't tried this myself.

for the fade you are aiming for with the tinted glass, add light sources on bottom layer. You can use torches covered by black carpet. Another option is end rods scattered over the skulk, but that is expensive.

12:44 if you take copper into the stonecutter, it gives 4 cut copper for 1 copper block instead of crafting it with 4 copper blocks. essentially gaining 3 extra blocks of cut copper!
