MUNCHIES Presents: Edible Schoolyard NYC

Edible Schoolyard NYC was founded in 2010 with the vision of bringing Alice Waters' edible education program to New York City public schools. ESY NYC adopts Waters' hands on approach to food, health, and the environment by implementing a program that promotes gardening, cooking, and eating together into schools' everyday curriculums. In the program, students are encouraged to make real connections to what they are growing and eating, empowering them to develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
In this episode of MUNCHIES Presents, MUNCHIES host Frank Pinello visits the Edible Schoolyard NYC program in East Harlem, New York to see the program's seed to table educational experience at work.

THIS NEEDS TO BE APART OF EVERY SCHOOL. This teaches sustainability and very important practices. planting something feels amazing. its a great feeling to watch something grow.you take care of. EVERYONE AND EVERY CLASS NEEDS TO DO THIS MORE SERIOUSLY. MAYBE HAVE A SELF SUSTAINABLE FARM WITH CHICKENS, Pigs, and Cows. as well as fruits and vegetables always rotating the land and animals. this is a great step, and we need to really get even adults to participate.

I love this. Kids nowadays have no idea about working with their hands let alone the fundamentals of gardening. This is a great thing for children to learn. I wish this was around when I was a child.
