Very different than your standard magazine/internet review that gives a subjective opinion on how a new car feels on the road. @@MunroLive Just a friendly note to let you know that I'm reasonably sure that you need to be careful how you do a raffle on Patreon. Most of the time they're against the TOS because Patreon, quite sensibly, doesn't want to have to deal with all of the legal overhead that would come from being deemed a gambling platform by a jurisdiction that either a winner or creator comes from because there are so many different rules for different places that trying to learn them all and then sort out how to conform to all of them is difficult to impossible. I believe that you can offer raffles while you have a Patreon account but you can't have it as a thing a Patron is entered into as a benefit of being a Patron. If you do go that route, you might want to exclude entries from jurisdictions whose gambling, raffle, lottery, and fundraising rules you may be unfamiliar with just so you don't end up with problems down the road. Assuming that you're on a computer, if you scroll down far enough that you're past the "About" section, a floating title bar appears at the top of the window with a "Become a Patron" button on the right side. Click this and then click "Make a custom pledge", which should be below the tiers, then set your pledge, minimum $1, then check out with your preferred payment option. I have a bunch of $1 pledges myself. It fits more with the rate at which I normally support authors - about the price of a softcover book a year, and they get much more of that than they do when I buy a book. Something that I would like to see from Patreon is memberships at different term lengths. For some things six months or a year would make more sense, and would reduce their processing costs.

What a great idea for a Netflix show! "TEARDOWNS!" maybe interviews of the PMs and Engineers that made a mistake and why they made it. Sandy maybe providing a different perspective on what the truth is and let the views decide what happened. What they learned. I could see a silly supply chain issue, or a public policy or why not add a little bit of conspiracy in the mix causing an engineering team to change up the design last minute before production and mess everything up and triumph eventually, or not! lots of drama, you know!? lol or maybe industrial mistakes that changed our lives in any way! how projects pivoted through out its life cycle! More than the Y being amazing it's the 3 that was bad in some construction aspect, period. Tesla is getting at the level of the others with construction techniques, it's nothing special. Where they actually are far far better than anyone else is the BMS and the motors, and that was already evident on the 3.

Before 1988 we were dabbling with Synergic MIG welding, it had a tight control loop on the wire feed speed using the arc voltage to keep a consistent distance, and hence power, in the arc. It made hand welding quality much easier to achieve on aluminium. Then in the mid 80's for the stainless steel we had plasma welding which created the weld pool from a sacrificial lip on the work piece. This made the neatest weld I've seen. I guess the technology and the control systems available now will be leagues ahead of that.

Your company and persona have great media potential as the leading : 1) Tesla critic 2) Lens for average people to understand the engineering inside a (mostly Tesla) product 3) Narrator of the evolution, the Tesla engineering has undergone If you were to optimize these things, you might find yourself to be even more of a target for talented engineers job applications (which is something you care about as i understand, less about the fame) Also as another source of revenue of course. The various "tailored blanks" may be assemblies of various metal composition as well. Ductibor and Usibor, boron based metals, are the two most common metals used for this application in conjunction with hot stamping.

The problem with all companies growing fast, that there is a point, where innovation drops off for giving shareholders more dividends... That is usually when some lawyer takes over and in her or his ignorance stops listening to the customers, and only to the big investors... BAD CHOICE. Well i'm engineer that works for different automotive company and unfortunately in final assembly and not in body shop ..and i like this video..and you are right about many things.we are still using those old kind of welds..and you can be sure how crazy it gets when you have holes all over the place..well maybe hole isn't the exact name .i think when you weld those materials together you will get lower spots where water could go throu..or some other crazy stuff...also the screw you mentioned..that is common i have to say..designer didn't think or didn't think it would be better for ppl in production to make it easier..so they will come up with two or 3 types ob bolts..then you have to change sockets...and then it takes years to correct it..instead to use simple rules ..make it better for production to be able assembly it easier..faster..cheaper..with less tools ..less waste and so on..

I love to watch this updates. This particular one is, I think, easier to understand for the common people. The blackboard, the comparison to the Model 3, those are good ways to truly understand your explanations. I know that there is a ton of people suggesting ideas, and your videos are really cool and enjoyable as they are... but following this path you could probably get more people engaged in the disassembly. Monetizing your videos as of right now wont get so much money coming, but as the number of visualizations grows, you get more options to find some extra $. There is many youtuber living from the views that the tesla brand guarantees, and your content its quite unique!! PS: some fancy thumbnails also helps

The bodies (BIW) are made on dedicated lines. Before shut-down General Assembly (where painted body turns into completed vehicle) was being done on same line, though not at same time. They built a run of Y then swap part supply back to build run of 3. GA for S and X runs both vehicles on same line at same time.

@@donm2255 depends on what you mean by changes. Some parts will start showing up in 3 over time. If you're thinking major changes to body, some were already made. But some changes aren't worth cost. Equipment was bought and installed already (millions $$), why throw it out. When Sandy says "it's not done this way" he's saying there is a less costly way to get the same result. Using more equipment, taking more time is wasteful. Not that it's unsafe or wrong exactly. If you've already invested in the equipment, damage done. You need a really good reason to create further wasted spending by throwing it out.

Being a cashier, and seeing this a month after it came out... At Hy-Vee we’re currently doing an optional food bank donation with every transaction. So I think it’s almost a way of saying that they’re even more people who need help in these times. (Even though I’m pretty sure we started this food bank session back in Feb) [Hy-Vee is still helping out it’s employees with a 10% bonus, so don’t think they aren’t doing us well.]

These shows are great, and so educational. I'd like to see them continued for years to come. What would more cool than Sandy walking us through a a few manufacturing plants in a series of videos? It's an insider's look at the industry that nobody else can offer.
