Even if you do not understand Gaelic, it is worth watching this programme on Murdo Mac Pharlain. He was the greates bàrd ( excepting Sorely Msc Lean - but he was more stictily poetic and a bit rarefeid - whereas Murdo Mac Pharlains poems were much more about real life. He was a huge influence on modern Scotths Gaelic music and wrote many of the frequentyl played Gaelic songs - be that Capercaille, Mary-Anne Mac Phee, Run rig - they have all being influenced by his songs and poetry. So it may just seem an old crofter in the isle of Lewis but he was a living link with the old bàrdic traditions and modern contempory issues that affect the Gaels - and humanity in general (like war). What all the parts and you will get a bethter insight to the minds of the Gaels of Scotland!
