I visited this mural last week, and I have no words to describe the emotion I felt there. The energy was overwhelming, and I broke down in tears for several minutes. It’s impossible not to feel moved. I highly recommend every fan visit the mural, as well as the Salford Lads Club (of course). Andy was one of the reasons I started playing bass, and his contribution to music will live on forever. Thank you to all the artists involved in creating this. And Andy, thank you for everything. I will love you forever.

So glad this was created. I saw The Smiths in 1985 in NYC. Still my favorite band. My son, who is a bass player, told me that Andy's bass lines were so much more complicated than they sounded and now, listening to remastered tracks, I know exactly what he meant. RIP Andy, you were such an inspiration to so many,

Mural pays tribute to Smiths bassist Andy Rourke who died earlier aged 59 (2) (UK) 21/Nov/2024 1608pm 4.12.24 i have just been to view it, the mural.... a load of faux motorhead dudes wandering about trynna do me out of a tome seem to be scattered about the city amidst a bunch of alleged homelss guys charging folk a toll to see it... i had enough for a pint and my bus fare home. i think a better wall could have been located - one across from the bus station, perhaps? still, a nice image. and worth having a look at. i didnt discern any vibe or energy and no emotion was induced... emotional investment nil, you may say. not so. i listened to the smiths, still do. that's about it, though. it is what it is. a collection of murals about greater manchester would be interesting - celebrating certain sons and daughters who made their way thru the city... even lemmy would warrent a nod as he was situated in ancoats, wasn't he, during his rocking vicars and proto hawkwind era when he allegedly sold drugs... anyhow.... great band, the smiths. end of.
