Murasakibara Character Analysis: Why We Lie to Ourselves

Something that I also think contributes to his false hatred to basketball, is that he was almost never able to play with full strength. We can see in the Last Game, where Murasakibara goes head to head with Jason Silver, that he's smiling and is truly happy playing someone as strong as Silver. In the dialogue it's confirmed that Murasakibara is so obscenely strong, he always had to hold back during games because if he didnt he'd overpower his opponent and might end up hurting them, something that he could finally let go off against Silver. As is the case with all the Generation of Miracles, their biggest strengths are also their biggest weaknesses.

Personally my favorite was Aomine. To understand how Aomine saw his talent and skill as unbearable was just amazing. He lost interest in maybe the one thing he loved the most and I’ve seen that happen to people including me and it’s a truly deafening experience.

Its nice to see Kuroko no Basuke get recognition and praise from people since Haikyuu took over the anime community even though KNB came out first. I've loved this anime since it originally came out and I'm so happy with its resurgence this past year thanks to the dub (which is really good in my opinion). I appreciate the in-depth analysis of our favorite purple titan. I would love to see more on other characters especially Aomine because his trauma was very interesting to me. Even though Kagami is my favorite, I feel Aomine is a deeper character. Also if you like Murasakibara then you will love the movie if you haven't seen it yet!

Why I ended up liking him the most was when it was revealed, during 'The Last Game', that atsu subconciously held back in all his games in fear of severly injuring someone. This opened up a whole new perspective of him for me. He absolutely hates losing, and I'm sure deep down he knows he could win by brute force (similar to kiyoshi's incident), simply- and literally- *crushing* his opponents until he is the one and only. But he doesn't. Murasakibara Atsushi loves basketball, loves his friends even if not showing it, and loves a fair game. oh and food

Would love your feedback on this. Okay I don't know if you've watched Blue Lock anime but there is this concept called "the talent to despair". My knowledge on this is a bit rusty but it basically says for you to reach greater heights you must avoid this mindset Murasakibara has. If you lie to yourself and claim you just didn't care about something you will never find the resolve it takes to learn from your limits and improve. Muraski crying at the end showed he had the talent to feel bad about his losing in basketball. But he can't rationalise it. He has to accept that he lost and he has to feel all the pain and not run from it. The talent to not rationalise a failure in other to avoid pain but instead feel all of it and let it make you stonger is the talent to despair. That is his arc but summarized in a different way. Murasaki proved he has the talent to despair by coming back to basketball after that loss. Some people like Kuroko's friend ran from the things they loved because the other guys were better but to come back despite that and still play. But you can't play with a losers mindset of "just doing it for fun". You have to go just as hard inspite of being outclassed. You have to do everything humanly possible to win. That is the full picture of the talent to despair. Would love to hear your thoughts. Personally I feel like the characters who keep going despite all this failure like Kasamatsu are the best because they are coolheaded in a game.

My favourite has always been Murasakibara. All the GoM had amazing skills but everyone but Murasakibara had inhuman traits. I like him because he's the most naturally talented but his height isn't. And for some reason I loved that.

I didn't like Akashi and didn't think his abilities were as cool as any of the others. Murasakibara is soooo cool I liked him immedialety. I also think Kise's Perfect Copy or Aomine with Street Basketball were much more creative and the fight always was so super exciting!

broo its so true that when you naturally good at something without trying much you can become such a person. I have read a lot of real stories of smart students that haven't tried at all at school and still being at top of the classes. But then they struggle at university because they got used to not try and getting good results. Their grades get worse and worse. And they start to convince themselves that grades doesn't even matter or they don't even like this subjects. After getting expelled they regret everything and try to study as everyone but its hard to start study because of that mindset

@@themanicpineapple8772 I think Midorima in zone would have the ability of every SG skill in entire anime, which means : Quick release that Ryo have Barrier Jumper that Hyuga have Irregular form that Moriyama have 3 types of 3 pointer that Mibuchi have And maybe even the Mirage shot that Himuro have Now combine all of that technique with Midorima accuracy and the amplified speed that the zone itself granted. There's almost nothing that the defender can do against that
