I grew up in Southern Indiana right across the Ohio River from Henderson KY. The men in my family were very avid hunters, especially my papaw and he taught them everything he knew. So I grew up surviving on squirrel..rabbit..and other animals I'm sure they tricked us into eating haha. I love ya'lls videos. I'm a new subscriber and I've been binge watching. We were hillbillies too as far as I knew. Didn't have much except each other. Thank you for the videos ❤❤

I taught my 2 sons to shoot with a 22 from 50 yards out first shooting match boxes and then with a dime on a tree open site only they were only 7 and 4 at the time they were pretty good and would compete against each other there momma didn't like it but I told her they could always feed themselves and family later on I never regretted doing it

I grew up in a family of nine with four older brothers and we all hunted. Ate lots of wild game including squirrels. Mom would par boil them to keep them somewhat tender. Sorry for rambling on but your videos make me very nostalgic. You guys have a way of drawing the viewer into the videos as if we are right there beside you. I’m hooked🤗

Mommy fixed them like that also with white gravy. She always fixed a pot of sweet potatoes with it. We all loved it. I personally loved fried squirrels the best. Mommy’s good cookin. Late 1950’s through mid-1970’s.

Yep, pick the bones clean with what meat there was on them. Throw the meat in with bacon grease and flour in the skillet add milk when the meat browns for squirrel gravy to go on sweet potatoes or biscuits😋 I liked it any way it was cooked.

we dont often eat squirrel in the UK, mainly because you'd find more meat on a butcher's pencil. Our squirrels are about the size of a lean kitten. my question has always been... do squirrels taste like nuts? 🤣🤣 Seriously though, hunting is still fairly common where I live. But its mainly birds and deer. And a lot of people (city folks that have moved in because they want to make like a country person) wont eat it because they think its what poor people eat. I dont mind, more for me!! I'll eat pretty much anything, but I've never liked rabbit because its so bony and it makes me gag.

I don't know if you noticed this or not, but at 3:25 the spirit of Sam McCoy came in to see his visitor. He came in behind his headstone so fast that you can see him(the white cloudy thing) and hear him by the hissing and the clunk sound. Then, after picking himself up, he comes around to the front of the headstone at 3:30. He's that tiny white light that goes from the left upper corner down to the right corner. He followed you all over the graveyard as you visited the others. When you were talking about Mary's name being Mary Berry I hear a male voice say "it's cute!" It doesn't sound like your voice. Then you did use the word "cute" afterwards. ????? I would like to say that you are so considerate and respectful to the people in the cemeteries. You tell the truth about them with kindness. You are not harsh or cruel in stating the facts of their lives. And they do see and hear everything that you say. I'm sure that they speak highly of your effort to honor them.

Hello Leo,and Heather. First things first. 1.Hello Sam, nice to meet you as well. 2. I have never eaten squirrel before, I will take your word for it being like rubber. 3. About the color of Devil Anse's 😈 shoes, who cares! Now for the rest of the video. Very interesting story about Sam and Paris. Everyone should have a niche in life, apparently squirrel hunting was Sam's. The cemetery is flat-out beautiful, as is the surrounding countryside. I am glad to see that some cemeteries back there are well cared for. What a great way to end the video, with a squirrel. Thank you very much Leo ( and Heather) for telling another great story. Take care. 😊

The scenery is absolutely gorgeous Leo. Yes, you do end up in some very interesting predicaments. But, you always make it out of them. Be careful being out in the rain as strep throat, bronchitis and upper respiratory problems along with the flu is going around. This cemetery looks like it is well taken care of as compared to others that you visited. Interesting nickname, "Squirrel Hunting Sam." Awesome video and love the deep research that Heather does for them. You aren't a bad storyteller. Ha!! I don't like squirrel either.

Back in the day (I'll be 53 monday) my step dad was a very avid hunter. I've ate more squirrel gravy than I care to admit oh how i hated that stuff, I didn't like the rabbit or deer meat either !My momma would cook whatever my step-dad brought home! I hated that stuff 😂 but we were taught you either eat what momma cooked or went hungry. One thing I remember eating that I thought was gross was those daggone groundhogs. But the one thing I liked that you may think is gross was grouse. Yes I've plucked many of chickens from a#3 tub of boiling water too. Needless to say I'm not much of a wild game meat person lol Thanks again for such a great video KEEP DOING WHAT YOU AND HEATHER DO LEO!

Also my great grandparents are in a relocated cemetery, in Auxier Ky. He’s got an interesting story a Civil War vet. He was in a POW camp in Michigan able to get out and walk all the way back to Kentucky name to a ripe old age him and his wife buried at Johns Creek was moved to relocation cemetery when he damn was put in, his name is Archibald Scalf her name is Sarah Ann Sellards Scalf she’s my connection to Jenny Wiley The cemetery was very neglected. The last time I was there. The bottom part is beautiful, but the relocation cemetery is wasn’t mowed for years.I hope in better shape no. Take care love u both 💜💜💜

Leo you should start selling and sponsoring some ads on your channel that way you could grow your revenue and be able to do more and bigger and longer videos, especially on the brand of ATV and side by side that you use and your camping equipment, you just need to reach out to these manufacturers and put forth like a video to them and see if they are willing to sponsor you, and you think you would be getting some sort of compensation from the Hatfield McCoy trail considering the amount of promotion videos you have done referring to the trail system, I am willing to bet that your videos have increased their revenue by at least 30% not counting all of the area businesses, you have gone viral,,😊❤❤❤
