This is not a movie about success and revenge...it’s simply the best tragic comedy about loneliness and being yourself produced in the 90s. I love this film and Toni Colette and ABBA beyond words. I don’t know much about Australia, but she’d better have a statue by now. Love from Switzerland 🇨🇭

I remember seeing this trailer back in the '90s thinking the movie was going to be a light comedy and being completely unprepared for how dark it was. It's a great movie, but it has some heartbreaking moments.

My favourite about this movie is that it introduced me to Toni Collette. I have loved her ever since and followed her career throughout the years. She never fails to deliver perfect, memorable performances. So happy she's had such an extraordinarily successful career. Wow, it's been 28 years since I've watch this! Time to see it again. :)

I think that’s the idea. People go in expecting that she gets what she wants when really it’s a sham. In the end she is ‘successful’ but not in terms of being flashy and rich and with the hot husband. It’s about success being relative.
