I was privileged to have been a member of the English Chamber Orchestra for several years and was playing in this performance with Murray Perahia. This brings back wonderful memories of the work we did with Mr. Perahia not only in this concert but also in the recordings of the complete cycle of the 27 Mozart piano concerti. His training in chamber music is very evident in his approach to these works, from a chamber music perspective. Allied to this, the meticulous attention to details of phrasing and nuances to integrate the piano solo with the orchestra to complete the sound picture in the most vivid way.

Wonderful to hear from you.. It was indeed a fabulous performance by Murray and the orchestra. Thank you for sharing your thoughts amd experience of this time. I'll look out for the recording that you mention.

As an amateur pianist, I've always admired Murray Perahia's playing for the same reasons you noted. His technique is superb, and the attention to detail that he brings to any work has probably been the reason why many of his recordings are so highly-acclaimed. And as an amateur musician, my admiration also extends to anyone who has made it as a professional musician in classical music. The English Chamber Orchestra has likewise made many wonderful recordings. You guys & gals are underpaid and often underappreciated. Thanks for adding your comments.

My dad grew up with Murray in a Sephardic community in the Bronx NY. He was very surprised to hear that his friend from Hebrew school is one or the greatest living pianists. He said Murray was always musically gifted and that he would always be given solos in the choir. He also remembered that he and his family were vegetarians. Figured id share.

I am so highly envious of your privilege! How much would have liked to interface personally with Murray and play with him!!! I am glad to have found this video, which I preserve as an example of how a pianist should be, his excellent technique, his good posture, his refined expressiveness... everything!

I am so highly envious of your privilege. How much would I have appreciated to make a personal connection with Murray and play with him! I found this video by chance and I want to preserve it as a perfect example of how a pianist should be: with a perfect technique, good posture at the instrument, perfect expressivity... everything first class!

It is quite amazing . He was fairly young in that year. He is my inspiration at my age of 76 yrs. I am still practising yearning to reach the standard as displayed by him. I wish I could have an experience to see his next performance. Poor as I am The Almighty will make it possible one day. Dan Lefoka from South Africa.

The beauty of the spiritual life, is you can do it all in the sleep state if u have a pure heart. Also called soul adventures. I sing a sacred word for God, HU, every day. My experiences are beyond my dreams, as I travel back in time, to the more recent past, or even millions of years, or see the future, see past lives, or have healing, and great divine love. Put love & attention into your passion, visualize your desires, sing HU, which is for ALL people regardless of their beliefs, and watch the magic happen. The HU, which is pure love, is on many you tube channels. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUU to wake up to the journey of soul.

His articulation of his ideas and concepts is very musical and persuasive. Such a high, high caliber artist brings many apparent demands on the ability to communicate with fellow musicians and audience to make for a dynamic and resonant experience psychologically , emotionally, and spiritually. Great interview! PWG

'And the lively coda in D major is only superficially cheerful.' No, it is where joy triumphs over despair - the climax of the concerto - as in so many works of the romantic repertoire - a novel wonder in the time of Mozart.
