Gray Race more or less, but unintentionally. as far as I remember, this happened two laps after his last pit stop, so probably the wheel gun wasn‘t used properly, the nut did not go on completely.

@@grayrace7720 D. Hill was 9 points ahead - he just needed to finish 6th or higher(to get just 1 point) to secure championship, Willineve had to win that race to have any hope. It would be like Bottas being 24 points behind Ham at last race, then retired due to mechanic failure and someone thought Ham wouldn't get that championship without someone deliberately sabotaging Bottas.

I remember this race I was only a little girl watching this love the grand Prix even now Murray walker was a fun lively commutator and will be missed by us all. It was so sad Graham hill never got to see his son become world champion.

@@THM2008 Unfair. Murray Walker was and is a national treasure. His voice is a massive part of my childhood, and he strikes me as a genuinely decent man. (Who also served the country in the war incidentally). HOW he has not been knighted is an absolute mystery to me.

They were better times, but considering it was 10 points for a win back then and Damon was 9 pre race, Jaques did need a bit of a miracle. I do miss 16, 17 race seasons though, the championship going to the final race is always a great thing

Hill was such an amazing Driver back than. Sadly he came very late to F1 without driver Go Cart before. And even do... he showed an amazing Performance. Imagine he would drive Go Cart in his Childhood like most other Drivers.

I agree. He is still underrated IMHO. He would have won the championship in 94 had Schumacher not rammed him after he'd crashed and broken his car and had Williams not fired him he could have won another championship. The car gets a lot of credit but (a) that applies to so many champions and (b) don't ignore his role as test driver developing the car in the first place.

@@flintironstag3832 Sorry, but 1994 was Schumacher's to win. Even though Benetton were cheating, the two race ban over the Silverstone incident was ridiculous. Schumacher outraced Hill 9-4 when they both finished.

TheKestevon And the Rory Byrne designed cars were bad huh?? Not according to Schumacher they weren't. Schumacher personally called Byrne after he drove the 1994 Benetton in pre-season tests and commended him on designing such a fine car. Here's something you *also fail to understand* Newey alone couldn't develop his cars without a great car developer - and in Newey's own words Damon Hill was incredibly good at this. This was btw why Newey left Williams once Hill was fired. Btw, that genius tactician Ross Brawn had nothing to do with Schumacher's success did he??

Murray's commentary will always be superior to David Crofts. Sometimes Crofty tries too hard at times and it shows but for Murray it was all natural and passionate.

At the time there were initial reports that the wheel hurt or even killed someone in the crowd but that promptly went no where Always wondered if someone was too quick on the draw with a report without checking facts or if there may have been a cover-up

Don't remember this one. Remember a spectator being injured/killed at San Marino GP wheel flew into the crowd on the start finish straight..... during Saturday practice/qualifier when a driver was killed followed by Senna on Sunday race. That one was worst because part of the wishbone was still attached to wheel as it flew high into the air and into the crowd. Need to find that video now thinking about it...

Imagine that if he had come round the last corner to cross the line and wheel came off down the track Jacques suddenly couldn't control the car hit the wall but the wheel kept going and crossed the line....the wheel just won the race...im just wondering would that count as a win for Jacques? cos it was part of the car or would the wheel end up on the podium for crossing the line

In the unlikely event that happened, an unattached wheel would not count as anything, and Villeneuve wouldn't class as finishing until the rest of the car past the finish line.

I read in a race review that there was a second fence which stopped it, so it didn't go into the crowd. Even the original footage wasn't very clear so was hard to see at the time. The crowd would have moved because they wouldn't know where it would stop.
