In this episode, Vanitha Perumal shows us how to make Murukku. We're so used to just buying it that we fail to realize the work that goes into making it. Enjoy.
Ingredients (Makes a dozen):
- Approximately 1 cup, Water
- 1 teaspoon, whole jeera
- 2 cups, maize flour
- 1 teaspoon, salt
- Oil
Equipment: Murukku maker
Method:
1) Sift the maize flour and add the salt and jeera thereafter.
2) Add a little boiling water at a time and stir until you end up with a thick/firm paste as it needs to hold its shape.
3) Fill the murukku maker and pipe it into a pot of oil on medium heat.
4) Allow it to fry until golden brown.
