Love these old machines even though some are quite creepy. Always fascinating to see items from the past like these in such amazing working condition.

Wow that was fun, they really knew how to have fun back then. The machines and the characters were very well built and it shows as they're still running a 100 + years later. Thank you Jacob. x

Thanks to this video, I finally remembered where this museum is (I watch it featured in a travel show and all this time I thought it is on Britain, not San Fransisco). Also, in the show I watched, it is explained that those creepy animatronic about bad habits (the hanging, opium den and cemetery) are meant as the old days' PSA system to teach young kids and adolescents to not take drugs, drunk and also showing the possible outcome of crime, which is execution.

Can you imagine the man-hours combined in the sum of the creation of those mechanicals? It must be something like 50 years.

I have watched every video I can find about this place and it is on my bucket list. I am obsessed with automatons, the older the better. They are to me what wax figures are to TCB. Thanks for this.

How charming! You know I remember, as a child, when some of these or similar used to be set in a wall at Chessington zoo, UK...I always used to be fascinated by them, you put your penny in and watched as the devil came out of the grave and the executioner chopped off heads...I remember going one year and they had removed them and I was so sad. Its wonderful to see them in action! Thankyou Jacob and thankyou to the lucky owner of all these magical machines.

I miss the Camera Obscura and hologram museum, it gave me kind of an eerie feeling and the upside down view was so perfect, I should find out if it's still around anywhere, but Cliffhouse was the best!

Aw, CB! I should go to SF more often, seeing as I'm literally just across the Bridge from where u were. I missed u again! Someday I'll have the opportunity to shake the hand of the man who's been entertaining me this past couple of yrs w/all these goofy videos! I took my son to Musee Mecanique back when it was under the Cliffhouse @ Ocean Beach, & have been to it @ this location once as well. So much attention to detail put into the creation of those arcade games & attractions. W/each new generation, tho, there are less & less ppl possessing the knowledge/skill for maintenance/upkeep when some wee part crucial to function breaks, requiring fabrication & replacement. Imagine how colorful everything must have been back when all the little wooden & plaster characters were new! I've always loved that piano; I'm a sucker for anything that makes music. I luv Sal, of course, too, even tho she's kind of scary.

Glad you finally made it up to my neck of the woods! I'd like to think you read the suggestion I made in a previous live chat but most likely just found it on your own lol. My dad went to Playland at The Beach in the 1950's where a lot of those machines come from.

We had a Peppy the Clown at my local arcade: Nunley's Carousel in Baldwin, NY. He was a dime then (1960s). There was also one in our W.T Grant's store in Freeport. You could probably get one on EBay.

I wonder if the owner of this place and the late Marvin Yagoda knew each other. In spite of how cheesy some of those exhibits are by today's standards, I really like the old amusements best, when you think of all of the work that went into making those amusements and that some were made over 100 years ago, they are truly impressive.

That big carnival machine near the start of the video used to work, and when it did, it was grand. It was the star of the show in the building. Maybe the guys who own the Musee were having too hard of a time keeping it running. There are a lot more machines in there than Jacob was able to show.

You always find the coolest stuff Bagger! Definitely deserve more subscriber's and views than you get! I didn't know what to expect with this video, I don't know much about the old coin operated animatronics at all.... Although I think they are insanely cool to look at! This museum should have plaques by each machine to give a brief description of the make, model, interesting facts, and date of creation, to help people like me out. Hmmmm maybe Carpet Bagger could edit in things like this on future videos?

San Fransisco has such cool, hidden jems. However, if you go through the San Juaquin Valley, You should check out the Atwater Air Museum. They have a ton of planes, new and old, as well as a small aeronautics museum. Also, on the way tjere's a place called Casa De Fruta which is a fun road side attraction.
