When you are eating to build muscle, you’ve got to avoid two big diet mistakes if you want to gain appreciable amounts of muscle. The first is to stop using the word diet. This implies a short term solution when what you really need is a long term, lifetime approach to eating. The second is to stop listening to the age old advice of “eat big, get big” since it just is not true.
In this video, I show you the real problem that is keeping you or someone you know too skinny. Often times it has nothing to do with the amount of calories that are being taken in on a daily basis, but rather the quality of the calories that are being eaten. I’m going to show you real world examples of how this plays out time and time again. Using myself as the example, and hardgainer Jesse as well, you will get to see exactly what I ate as a child that was holding back the gains I was supposed to be seeing.
To begin, most skinny guys are eating enough calories. I know, shocking huh? It isn’t some super high metabolism that is keeping them skinny. That helps a bit, but more importantly, there is a dearth of quality calories coming in that often times derails the pursuit of muscle growth. A true muscle building diet should contain high amounts of each food, but only after the quality of that food is secured.
Muscle building diets should consist of the standby ingredients like oatmeal, vegetables, protein sources, etc. That said, the type of diet plan that I show you here (with a sample breakfast) is devoid of most of these let alone vitamins, minerals and good overall dense calories. This can be fixed however, if you allow for a bit of a transition time rather than trying to reach your goal right away.
The problem most people make is trying to make too large of a change right away. Instead, what you want to do is see if you can identify a middle ground between how you are currently eating and how you know you should be eating. If you can do this, you can more easily take steps to start eating more in line with where you want to go rather than forcing yourself to try and adopt this completely foreign way to feed yourself.
Remember, if it feels too much like work, then your mind is eventually going to treat it like work and sooner or later you are going to want to “call in sick”! Eat like an athlete and treat your food as fuel and you will realize just how important good nutrition is to your overall development and performance. If you want a complete step by step, meal by meal eating plan to go along with your daily workouts, head to athleanx.com and get your ATHLEAN-X Training System.

Jokes aside, I think this is how bulimia starts. People wants the sugar stuff but don't want to pay the price (weight gain), so they try to cheat the system by eating and then throwing up. At least that's how I imagine the reason for doing this.

@darkdevil6508
@darkdevil6508 5 жыл бұрын
@@FormigaFit eating too much soy or for long periods of time can affect you in negative ways as a man... also if you dont take omega 3 daily and eat sufficient proteins ( at least 70% of your body weight kg to grams of protein) combined with 8 hours of sleep and around 3 litres of water you ll never recover correctly with a vegan diet. Unless you start doing all that if you just wont or cant eat boiled eggs and get almost completely off sugar then theres a good chance your eating style is to blame. Try eating consistently at certain time periods throughout the day , 3 meals and 2 healthy snacks. As many different fruits taken in those 2 snacks or as a big meal made up of many diversified fruits. Same thing about veggies , eating a lot means nothing if you don t eat many different kinds of veggies throughout the day. Never forget about ginger, garlic and onion also.

I think what is happening is we grew up in an era that was basically a free for all with sugar. It conditioned our minds/tastebuds to the extreme level of not only sugar but also SALT in a lot of processed foods. Once you start cutting your intake down and then cut it out your mind and tastebuds slowly reset themselves to normal, then you get into the extremely sweet/salty stuff and it kind of sends your body into shock. I found the salt thing out when I was pregnant and couldn’t figure out why I was staying so painfully swollen! I started reading labels and was absolutely floored by the jaw dropping amounts of salt in the food I was consuming, no wonder I was swelling up 😬. Fixed the salt intake and added more water and bam. No more swollen fingers and puffy face.

I really like that you promote a sliding scale of correct eating rather than make the switch from the junk to super healthy overnight. This is one of those things I always found difficult to stick to, switching from super unhealthy to super healthy almost overnight, obviously I couldn’t stick to it. Now, after having taken my time I have been able to drastically reduce sugar in my tea and oatmeal and my intake of sugars in general. Thanks for always being so encouraging
@DIFY
@DIFY 6 жыл бұрын
Zach Gassman I spent a year of my time to get sugar out of my diet, ofcourse I am not avoiding it completely.. but I am good without candy, cake, jelly jams, soda, juice and so on. Also avoiding bread too. Now that I am training with a new diet, which is as healthy one can get it.. I am building and gaining weight like never before! So yeah.. overnight change wont work after my own experience, when I first went "cold turkey" on the suggar I had the cravings for it like 2 months later. Anyways, now that I am completly off sugar, everything tastes better and theres no cravings for it either. To be honest.. I find candy etc, which I tried now lately, I found it not tastefull at all. So getting off the sugar can be a worthwhile experience for most people to try out. How I got off sugar over time.. I started with changing my soda with just fruit juice. I also started to change out candy with dark chocolate 70% cacao. Did that for a while, then I changed out more sweets out with fruit, which I accompanied with some dark chocolate. In the end one should not have a problem get completly off sugar.

I don't care what the experts say. I know that saturated fat is bad for you from my own personal experience. My diet used to have tons of saturated fat in it because I love cheese and red meat, and I started to get weird chest pains even though I was in my early 20s, I was thin and muscular, and I lifted weights and did cardio on a regular basis. As soon as I started to watch my saturated fat intake my chest pains went away. So, while my own personal experience isn't scientific evidence, it was enough to convince me that saturated fat is bad for your heart.

Quaker has a great protein instant oats. My preferred flavor is cranberry almond! 10 grams of protein. You can take your favorite protein shake and mix it with your oats too.

Phat Boy Fitness Journey Vlogs Quaker Oats is too expensive compared no non brand supermarket oats. Why do people keep buying them?

Simplicity for most. I don't keep buying them. I tried them. I stated they were good. However I do prefer making my own with protein powder added.

Few eggs per day is like 12 to 18g of protein. You have like 150g to go. And at the end of the day it has to be complete protein, if you only do yoga or run it doesn't matters, but if you're aiming to be at your peak in muscle grow you need that complete protein and check every single meal to make sure it all matches... or just eat a damn steak and thats half of those 150g.

Not only am I a hard gainer but I also have terrible skin, kinda doubles the motivation to eat healthy. How some people can eat gummy bears for dinner and maintain perfect skin is beyond me.

In my case, it was an allergic reaction to "Cellulose" & "Cottonseed Oil" (nowadays it's in almost everything) I started eating healthy just to avoid it and my skin cleared back up. Unfortunately, it means I can't eat out anywhere & most snacks are off limits. "Cellulose" is used as an anti-caking agent in powders, spices, etc. or as a thickener (marketed as a lower calorie option) ...and depending on the blend, goes by a number of names: "Hypromellose" , "CMC gum" etc. It took a food & beauty product diary for 1.5 years to confirm (as directed by my allergist) but just thought I'd share since it is a relatively new allergen in 99% of all fast & processed foods -- but even health foods & supplements contain Cellulose at this point. (I have to find gelatin caps etc.) Good luck! Hope this helps. :)
