Hi Scott, we are the same age and I began working out in 1978 with my cement weights I got for Christmas. I’ve always loved it and tried many types of workouts over the years. I found Devon Larrette (arm wrestler)last year and incorporated arm wrestling training. Wow what a difference it made in my hand and forearm size and strength. So far it’s the best thing I’ve tried for grip strength. Oh I also do carnivore and never go to the doctor and feel great.

On my father's side there were a lot of persons that reached the age of ninety and one even 102. They never did sports and certainly not bodybuilding. After the age of seventy they were stronger than most of their age, but that was because they were healthier. On that I think many confuse the causality. A healthy person does not want to sit all day in a chair, but wants to go for a walk, swim, or cycle to friends and family.

It feels like frailty is a way if not realized, and intervening with motivational intent is almost like saying, "I give up!" As a senior, it feels like effort becomes all that more important~
@nobukazumikami54662 ай бұрын
Functional skeletal muscles also prevent cognitive decline. Working on upper body strength while sitting on a chair is not good enough. Senior people need to perform squat (body weight or with some weights). Under-desk-cycle machine or under-desk-stepper is not a good exercise. With those machines, you cannot exert much force. You also cannot strengthen your back muscles when your back is supported by a chair, seat, couch.

I have no doubt the subject matter of this research is correct but I must say, strength on longevity pales in comparison to those who didn't believe and those who believed in a certain medication recommended or mandated in 2021. I have never seen so many cancers, heart attacks, blood clots and premature deaths in working aged people than post 2021 and I am not imagining this. I am tired of being a pallbearer and viewed as a conspiracy theorist.

You definitely need grip strength for deadlift. Put on more plates do a heavy deadlift and it will be difficult to simply hold onto the bar
@omdc5352 ай бұрын
Good grip strength is usually indicator that person was physically active (manual labor), not necessarily lifting weights or purposely exercising. However, people should have a daily fitness regimen. Think of it as artificial manual labor. It can simply consist of bodyweigh calestenics, squats, toe touches, windmills, push-ups, etc. It doesn't need to be arduous unless you want to make it ardous.

Can creatine help sore chest muscles causing bad chest pain in inactive people?
@swamphawk62272 ай бұрын
If it is actually the chest muscles, then yes, it can help them recover. An inactive person wouldn't have sore chest muscles for no reason though. My suggestion for best improvement would be to switch from inactive to active. All other supplements should take a backseat to action.

Cholesterol is inversely associated to longevity. That is, those elderly with higher cholesterol live longer. The bad cholesterol is an indicator of your bad diet. Eliminate your bad diet and your bad cholesterol fixes itself. Never worry, except in extreme rare cases, what your cholesterol is. Oh, and never take a statin.

More isn’t always better. As we know our biological processes are finite and it takes more resources to maintain muscle mass. Although we can try and optimise repair mechanisms, cell replication it still doesn’t change the fact that it is finite. So I am curios about what is optimal and how this can be quantified. At what point is having a slower metabolism and less muscle mass optimal.

There is zero proof of this currently. Sad to see how many big jacked old dudes there are at my local gym clearly taking s huge does of TRT. Can't be that good for thier heart. Note big not fit 😅.
