I had a ‘71 Sport Lemans. 400 M22 posi. Bought it in ‘81, for $800. It was rusty and abused. Owning that car taught me a lot about car repair. At the time I always thought the other A bodies were more appealing. Now I appreciate the understated look. Thanks for the video!

MCC, you amaze me with your finds. Another Pontiac jewel. A single booster QJ. Wow. A 3.55 12 bolt, perfect for a street Pontiac. The rarity is extraordinary. Fantastic job on the resto. Altho I understand the need for originality, I'm a stickshift guy, and sad to see a column shifted auto. And also the P/S, and 4 wheel drums. Just goes to show, you can't have your cake, and eat it too. Good to hear this car is still being driven and enjoyed. Thanks.

I get the originality angle, but Jay Leno puts disc brakes on all his cars that were not already so equipped, just as a safety element. I agree with that sentiment. If it's a car I'm going to drive, I'm going with disc brakes.

This car comes from my generation, and I can tell you from experience, they were some of the best that ever came out of Detroit. In fact mid 60S until the early 70s, only American big 3 produced the most beautiful, durable, and powerful cars for the money. No one came close when it comes to mass produced automobiles. The styles of that era look better than anything being produced currently by anyone.

My girlfriend has her dad car, same as this but came originally with a 350 Chevy 2bbl and Powerglide. First time I saw it, I commented that the motor had been changed because all the cars I had seen were Lemans and they came with the 350 Pontiac. Here father told me it was the original motor. Found out that the Canadian T37s came with Chevy motors up to 350 cid, the Lemans had Pontiac motors. Nice video. Best Regards - Mike

In truth, it's all about one wird: shopping. You have to shop. When My Dad bought his '64 Tri-Power Bonneville there was an options folder 4 pages long, single spaced. There were a LOT of things on it. Most people never asked to look at it and when they did it was cursory. This car is an example of shopping. By the way: shopping? At the end of the folder there was a box; "special paint". Haven't heard that one? for $22 - yes, $22 - you could have your Pontiac painted ANY OTHER GM COLOR.

I would definitely prefer that over a GTO. No question. When I was 21 years old and had just joined the Army the year before they brought the Holden Monaro over as the 2004 GTO. I wanted one something awful, besides the fact they cost $33,xxx and I was only bringing home an E3 salary by late 2003. I was in Germany and AAFES wasn't allowed to import them and sell them to us. I finally got one, with a 6 speed, in 2017, I had a horrible stroke of bad luck and the engine was siezed and it sat in storage from 2019 until last month I finally towed it from TX to TN. Now I am saving up to put together an engine for it and put it back together in my driveway. I am probably going to build a 408ci iron block stroker with 243 heads, 238/242 cam, headers and a tune. I expect to see 550hp+ out of it and would like to see just under 500whp.

Being a Pontiac fan I love the sleepers, I had a 56 Canadian Pontiac fact is there on a Chevy frame in Canada not Buick frame which makes that much shorter. It came with a blown engine 396/ 360 hp which I rebuilt with L88 cam blueprinted boy was this thing was crazy after 5000 grand as I had a Muncie 4 speed and 456 gears in 1970. I had to sell the engine to schooling and drop in my done out 301 and I still beat out everything on the track that day except a 69 Chevelle with 307 stickers but actually had a big block 396. That combo was a perfect quarter miler as took out 440 GTX and my buddies 56 Chev with a 327 that he said he could take me out, he lost all 3😅 . Unfortunately it was stolen strip and burnt!! This is a Pontiac Laurention top of the line in Canada as it was a two door hardtop and have never seen another since, boy do I ever miss my baby as I did all repairs by myself with no training. This was the car the Judge was imagined to be. When I first started working for someone other than myself, a manager had a LeMans Sport 2 door he drove to work...I offered to buy it when he was ready to sell but he needed the trade-in value. A few years later a friend i helped with family problems paid me back with a junkyard 1969 GTO, so it worked out ok :)

The vinyl interior and door panels looked awesome. Granted the floors looked like something out of my Dad's 53 Mercury.

If you check out my videos, there are more Pontiacs than anything else, plus a couple of Buicks and a 442. Apparently, dime a dozen Chevys are hard to find by me!

What a fantastic car, thanks for sharing! I actually have the exact steering wheel that goes in this car. Came off a '71 Lemans steering column I used. That wheel was the "base" wheel and while it is a little goofy looking I agree it kinda belongs in this car. I actually prefer the "sport" three spoke wheel, which was the mid level option, with the Formula style wheel being the top option. Or at least that's what an old brochure I found online awhile back said.

Formula and TRANS AM used the same steering wheel. It lasted through 1981.

It's always adorable to see GM guys talk about 'rare' when we Mopar guys are used to one of one or one of none.

We think 1-of-15 is pretty rare by any standard, and 1-of-2 with a hood tach makes it that much more unusual. Why the hate?
