The Fish-Within-A-Fish is one of the most famous fossil specimens ever discovered! It’s so fascinating! And it is the official fish fossil of the State of Kansas

Love your channel. I'm not a scientist or academic but one of my many sub hobbies are Paleontology and the history of the earth. I was born and raised in the great state of Kansas. xxoo

When I was a kid, I always disliked the museum that is closest to where I live. They to that day have "only" 5 American dinosaur species. But now as I grew older, I like to visit again since I have another appreciation for live on this planet. The grube messel is not far away and the museum has a stunning collection of early (after the extinction of the non avian dinosaurs) mamals. The sternberg museum reminded me of that right now, awesome video, very interesting. Maybe I get to see some of the museums in the US in the future.

I live only an hour away from Sternberg and feel so lucky to be that close. It's an underrated gem.

The Sternberg Museum was a good 2.5 hours from my house, but the trip was always worth it. And we went pretty often. 😁 It has some really spectacular fossils. If it wasn't for a whole host of factors, I'd want to go again, for nostalgia.

The Sternberg is great! It has one of the best fossil collections out there! Such a gem!

There's a hiking path going from the parking lot and one of the first things you run into is a Mammoth tusk. It's a really nice place to visit.

You have a slight chance throughout the inland seaway with the bloat and float to find dinosaurs out at sea where they really shouldn't be. The preservation of these bones in the Pierre shale is often very rough and hard to stabilize. Where the Pierre meets the Niobrara there seems to be some good mosasaurs!

Discovered your channel yesterday and have been binging your videos as I have free moments! See you’ve gained a thousand subs in one day. So happy to see quality content getting proper attention. I love your series concept. Enjoy your history of the world and now this museum tour series. How about a history of paleontology series for us grownups still catching up on all the progress since we were kids memorizing dinosaur names?

Hey Steve! I’m from New Haven, CT and was wondering if you have ever gotten the chance to go to the Peabody museum? It’s going through a massive renovation but in the next year or two it will be back open. If you haven’t been before you definitely have to go once reopened! Cheers!

@@davidfoarde558 me either! Since getting back into my childhood love of paleontology and anthropology; I realize how much I took the Peabody for granted. Also some crazy news out of the Bruce museum (in Greenwich) the other week; They found an 11 mil year old bird fossil in some storage / filed away… turned out to be a never before discovered species. From Kansas… fossils were found in 1933. I always forget that CT / Yale had such a rich history in early paleontological study and now I want to visit the Bruce Museum (although I believe that is also going through a renovation)

I feel the same way about taking the Peabody for granted…or rather I think I’ll have an even deeper appreciation for it next time I go! I didn’t even know about the Bruce museum so thanks so much for that tip. I will certainly be checking it out when it’s open. I’ve found some weird things cleaning out my office but never an 11 mil year old bird fossil.. I also forget CT had such a rich history of paleontology…I always make the mistake of associating that with places like Montana, Wyoming etc..

About the bite marks on the Tylossaurus skull, couldn't it have been from a territorial, or mating urge fight with another Tylossaurus than from cannibalism?

In a museum far, far ahead: Triassic plants (real/recreations/ cover a gigantic room. Sounds from the outside can't get in. Instead you hear only sounds native to the triassic. Mega-realistic models of animals with robot+AI inside roam the area. Be careful not to alert something bigger than yourself! Drones turned into insects buzz around. Would you like to go there? It should be able to create by now. Only the ticket would be kinda expensive, like CERN-expensive.
