What a great video. My early teen years were spent working farms for three bucks an hour. I came to despise loading hay. Much respect to this man. The intelligent young lady also reminded me of my younger years. I had a steady craving for the citrus-like sorrel. Eaten straight out of hand or with a salad of dandelion leaves and whatever else I could find. I think I'll make one now that spring is here.

I just started growing mushrooms. I bought 3 blocks from Fungi Perfecti 3 months ago. And I used the stems from the oyster mushroom I grew with coffee grounds in 1 pint jars to grow more. I never knew it could be so easy! I want to put a tiny greenhouse in our spare bedroom to grow more. Haven't made any videos about it yet tho. I am finding they are as fascinating as beekeeping!

This is a great detailed video. I have a biology background so I could follow what was going on. I have grown many fungi in solid (and liquid) culture in my time including on an orbital incubator that was swishing the conical flask culltures around. I love doing all that stuff, loads of fun. Weirdest culture medium was porridge agar (well I am in Scotland!) to grow a specific fungal parasite of strawberries. I tell a lie! The strangest has to be a soaking wet paperback book and some toilet rolls to grow ( I think) Oyster or Shitake mushrooms. :-) I have been looking at the heaps of chipped trees and bushes left behind by tree surgeons and wondering could these chips be sterilised and used for culturing mushrooms? This video has just encouraged me! PLus the plant girl really knows her stuff. I have tried wood sorrel and a few other things like pignut. Great video as I said.

Cool video. I love mushrooms. I’m concerned about what those plastic bags are releasing into the mushrooms. BPA? Is there a better way?
