It shows picking of the following mushroom species: Cep / Penny bun / King bolete (Boletus edulis), Summer cep (Boletus reticulatus / Boletus aestivalis), various types of Scaber stalk (Leccinum sp.), Amethyst chanterelle (Cantharellus amethysteus) and Black trumpets (Craterellus cornucopioides).

Fun! Is the reason you don't cut them in half to check condition, because they spoil faster?

Not really - I just want to have a nicely arranged basket at the end. Sometimes I cut them in half too as it's the best condition check, but at the same time it can make some mess and doesn't look as good.

Controversial question here, but do you wash the mushrooms you pick from the forest when you process them?

The answer is a bit tricky - usually I don't wash them, but my most common way of processing is to dehydrate them. And to re-hydrate, you need to put them in water anyway. It may also vary on the species, this is valid mostly for ceps and boletes.

I've never been to Romania and I believe the climate there is a bit warmer but in general I believe it can be similar. All depends on the weather though.

The mushrooms are not blue but the light in that part of the forest at that time was quite bad with blue-ish tones early in the morning :)
