So fascinating! I live in the Adirondack mountains 🏔 of way way upstate NY lol, I’m about 25 minutes from the Canadian border!! (Even had a job once cleaning the border patrol office lol, that was a trip lol) but here we have so many beautiful, natural, organic, raw, and absolutely delicious resources for foraging and fishing and hunting! I can’t wait to get out this spring and find some wild mushrooms here and use them as well! Very inspiring!

Stunning video Alex! Great video work as per usual. I really like the lack of commentary too, I think it captures the atmosphere of being alone in the forest with nature.

hi Alex, what camera you use for your videos? And regarding mushroom picking, if you want to come here in Italy i will be very glad to bring you to some places where I do mushroom hunting (since my activity is selling mushrooms)... and ps: it would be better to pick them entierely, not cutting them

I love Amithyst Deceivers, they're so beautiful. Love this vid, I'd never thought to go out foraging and then do a cook up outdoors, which is weird since my channel is all about outdoors and catch n cooks but will defo give this a go once i can get out. Love the cinematography in this aswell, suck beautiful shots 😊

Nice video. Nice concept. Nicely niced. Love your fishing channel with Carl. I've a premonitiom if you persevere with Just Alex, honestly (ish) documenting the unique, personal A Smith Goes "To The Future" - we're all going there too, obv - if you follow your nose and inclination, it's going to lead to something remarkable (and important). That's a premonition, that is.

Awesome video mate, never foraged mushrooms just a question, what’s the benefit to cutting then at the bottom of the stem as opposed to just picking them, does this allow rejuvenation of the mushroom, etc never thought I’d be finding mushroom videos interesting, I Follow the fishing vids. Enjoy your new venture mate, would enjoy to see how to get some of your photography and wildlife shots because there amazing mate. Good luck with the new venture I’ll be following it 💯 regards J
@just_alex2 жыл бұрын
Cheers! I don’t thing it matters really, it’s just easier and cleaner to cut them I find. :)
@EternalVR2 жыл бұрын
Those who prefer picking the entire wild mushroom argue that cutting can leave a stump that acts as a disease vector when it rots. On the other hand, proponents of cutting say that it results in higher yield and that the technique doesn't cause too much disruption to the mycelium underground unlike picking. Cutting bigger mushrooms at the base allows the base itself and smaller mushrooms to continue to grow. So I'd say pluck small ones and cut the big ones.
