John Williams is definitely one of the best out there. When I was a kid, I always had my favorite soundtracks, but never knew they were all composed by this man until I was older and started paying attention to the credits. Also, the soundtrack to Empire of the Sun (another Spielberg film) has always been one of my favorites.

His Superman soundtrack is his best IMO. They just remastered it again. From Main Title March to Planet Krypton, leaving home, his first night as Superman, his flight with Lois and Love theme at the end( my all time favorite)

John Williams is the greatest movie composer of all time and inspired the likes of Nabou Uematsu who might be the greatest video game composer of all time. Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurrasic Park, ET, Superman, and so many other movies would not be the same without his music.
